Job Brief

Journeyman Mechanic: Maple Valley $5000 Bonus

Cedar Grove Composting is currently seeking a reliable Journeyman Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. This position maintains a diverse range of equipment including heavy equipment, trucks, trailers and processing equipment. The journeyman mechanic troubleshoots and maintains/repairs a variety of systems.

Work schedule will be swing shift Monday through Friday, 8 to 10 hour shifts, with some weekends required. Cedar Grove offers competitive wages, shift differential pay, tool allowance, benefits and paid vacations. This is a non-Union position. Mechanics must possess the required hand tools to perform the applicable job assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on belt lines, grinders, screen plants, off road equipment and on road truck/trailers and collection vehicles.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and perform corrective repairs.
  • Complete accurate work orders showing labor and materials used to perform each job.
  • Remain current with industry standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of shop and work area.
  • Personal safety and shop safety.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Keep abreast of vehicle repair techniques.
  • Diverse mechanical aptitude including diesel, gas truck and heavy equipment repair.
  • Fabrication and welding experience.
  • Prefer 3-4 years of mechanic experience and/or attendance in a mechanic program.
  • Minimum Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement or ability to obtain one.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Computer skills a plus.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, stretch, and bend for a 10 hour day.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather for a short period of time.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces. (i.e. under trucks/machinery) or in strenuous positions.
