PEAK is looking for a Jr. Mechanical Test Engineer for a growing bio-tech client in Silicon Valley, CA. This is a full time onsite, 6 month-1 year contract position with possibility of going direct. The Jr. Mechanical Test Engineer will performs product testing assignments of new or enhanced products. Drafts verification test procedures and analyzes test data. Updates project/product bug lists in a timely manner. Documents common failure modes and incorporates them into improved test protocols. Applies industry and standard engineering and design principles to tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Following generally accepted guidelines and technical approaches, performs testing of new and enhanced products. This includes life testing and robustness testing against design specifications.
  • Drafts new verification testing protocols and specifications.
  • Provides testing for hardware with a primary focus on mechanical, mechatronic and liquid handling testing.
  • May also perform system testing or testing for firmware and software development projects as appropriate.
  • Propose or design test fixtures.
  • Documents assignments, test procedures and results in conformance with the Quality Management System.
  • Researches new test engineering practices, procedures and tools to maintain proficiency and experience with emerging technologies.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires BS degree in an engineering (ME preferred) related discipline or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to assemble test set-ups, including electrical and fluid connections, required.
  • Strong attention to detail; logical thinking processes
  • Strong technical writing skills required
  • Proactive; self-starter
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel
  • Statistical analysis a plus
  • Some coursework in a programming language such as Visual Basic, C or C++ a plus
  • Coursework or experience in robotics and precision liquid handling a plus
  • ProE or other mechanical CAD experience a plus
  • Experience with mechanical test equipment such as tensile, torsion, environmental or vibration testing a plus
