Job Summary:

This role supports the Sr. Engineers in the development of new and iterative products, ensures incorporation of internal and supplier manufacturing capabilities into final designs (DFM), and supports the launch of product to manufacturing, marketing, and sales.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support Sr. Engineers in the design of new products through the creation of detailed 2D drawings from 3D models for the manufacturing of components and assemblies.
  • Support Sr. Engineers in the creation and testing of prototypes.
  • Convert legacy CAD data into SolidWorks models and drawings.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections to verify that new products meet design specifications and function properly.
  • Support manufacturing/QC in analyzing product manufacturing issues and determining root cause.
  • Occasionally, design projects may result from this activity.
  • Participate in cross-functional review teams in design review, manufacturing review, cost analysis, prototype and preliminary product testing and review efforts.
  • Support rollout and training of new or revised products by providing technical drawings and information for use by sales, marketing, and manufacturing functions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree
    preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • Experience in the fenestration industry (residential or commercial), building products industry (weatherproofing systems and components), or related field a plus.
  • Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes including metal extrusion, plastic extrusion, injection molding, die casting, and assembly techniques a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling, assembly, and detailing, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience with basic shop tools (saws, drills, etc.) required, for the purposes of prototyping and testing.
