Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Junior Financial Analyst is responsible for maintenance of financial models as well as aiding in the development and preparation of new models, budget forecasting, data analysis, and financial accounting support for Academic Affairs.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Update financial models each semester with year-to-date financial results
  • Work with various program directors to develop projections based upon collected data points
  • Review overload payments for accuracy & proper application of collective bargaining agreement provisions
  • Preparation of supporting documentation during the annual budget cycle
  • Ability to independently prepare account reconciliations using multiple reports and data sources
  • Run monthly revenue recognition scripts, related reports, and allocation scripts
  • Review Procurement Card coding
  • Review purchase orders and invoices for account coding, accuracy, and compliance with University and divisional policies
  • Preparation and submission of journal entries and budget change orders
  • Assistance and preparation of schedules and accruals for the year end close
  • Various financial analyses as needed
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
This position is best filled by an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 1 – 3 years of relevant experience; 2 or more years of financial analysis or audit experience is preferred. A working knowledge of GAAP is needed, including independent preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. Embraces a “find it, fix it” mentality when addressing issues that may arise in the course of business. Strong computer skills including experience with an ERP, such as Banner, and the Microsoft Office Suite including excellent Excel skills are required. Strong communication skills are imperative to work effectively with various departments/divisions, especially with those of varying financial experience. Attentiveness to detail and accuracy are essential. Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and confidentiality are required at all times.
