We currently have the following Full-Time position open on our team:
Kitchen Manager
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for assisting the Nutrition Services Director with daily operations of congregate and home-delivered meals programs. This role will provide oversight of daily activities ensuring direct supervision, health safety, and kitchen policy are met with accuracy and efficiency. Will assist the Nutrition Services Director in areas such as compliance, menu preparation, quality improvement, sanitation, and resident-related activities.
Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years of food service management experience
- ServSafe® Certificate required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong supervisory, coaching, management and leadership skills
- Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Requires knowledge of storage, preparation and service of food, and the sanitary requirements and equipment used in large scale food operations.
- Requires ability to estimate and budget for future needs and cost of personnel, space, equipment, supplies and services
- Strong computer literacy in all Microsoft Suite including, Word and Excel, ability to create reports, and use internet and electronic mail systems.A
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly recommended
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting)/physical/TB test prior to beginning employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 to 2 years of direct foodservice/culinary operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
- Healthcare experience strongly desired
- Certified Dietary Manager preferred
Responsibilities:
- Manage dining room staff. (Scheduling, annual reviews, training, meetings)
- Assist with ongoing operational assessments and the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure high quality, efficient service delivery
- Provide adequate, budgeted staffing by participation in interviewing, hiring, orientation, ongoing training and coaching, and evaluation of direct report staff.
- Assist program director with preparation and monthly management of annual budget
- Assist in ordering, inventory and maintaining the storage of groceries
- Assist with oversight in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to established food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety and portion control
- Assist with developing, implementing and enforcing program policies and procedures
- Assist with development and coordination of training to ensure staff maintain appropriate certification/knowledge.
- Assist with ensuring maintenance of the highest rating on health inspections and corrects any deficiencies.
- Conduct periodic surveys and meet with resident food committees and individuals to assure satisfaction with the food service program; make changes or improvements with approval
- Participate in staff, residents, family, or marketing activities and events as directed
- Stay in compliance with State and Federal food handling and safety regulations
