About The Position
The individual will be part of the Discovery group, contributing to the discovery of new complement therapies. The position is contract-based for 12 months with opportunity for permanent contract.
Responsibilities
- Supporting in-vitro and ex vivo cellular immunology assays involving cancer cells, epithelial cells, T-cells and myeloid cell-based systems and delivering results within project timelines.
- Performing techniques such as routine gene expression assays (qPCR), transfections, SiRNA knockdowns, PCR, microscopic techniques, gel electrophoresis and others.
- Maintaining current and accurate laboratory record of all activities including information/data archiving, preparing and uploading reports to the ELN and CDD systems.
- Coordinate receiving and delivering, reagents, media and other supplies for the project.
- Responsible for freezing cells, Cryofreezer organization and maintenance.
- Expected to assist in literature search and give regular presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Biochemistry, Molecular or Cellular biology, Immunology, or related field is preferred. Experience in the life science field is desirable but not necessary.
- Good understanding of immunology concepts with basic knowledge of the complement cascade is highly desirable. Background in immune-oncology and autoimmune diseases is a plus.
- Good experience in biological sample processing, including whole blood and PBMCs as well as cancer cell lines in culture with aseptic technique.
- Experience in performing in vitro and ex-vivo functional assays using human/animal primary cells and cell line cultures. Ability to develop, execute, and establish novel co-culture immune cell-based functional and biochemical assays to select candidate molecules for pre-clinical development would be considered a plus.
- Proficiency across several molecular techniques, including stable (reporter) cell line generation and characterization, cytokines and other protein detection (gel electrophoresis, ELISA, MSD, Luminex), gene profiling (RT-PCR, Quantigene), and microscopy is highly desirable. Understanding of cell phenotyping by multi-color flow cytometry is highly desirable.
