Laboratory Technician - Remington, IN

Solae LLC, a division of International Fragrances and Flavors has an immediate opening for a Utility Laboratory Technician. This position will be a Monday through Friday 8-hour day position, with the hours of 7 AM – 3:30 PM. Some weekend coverage may be required. If weekend coverage is required, the Utility Laboratory Technician would have 2 days off during the week.

You Will Spend Your Time...

• The position would be 20 hours working in the waste-water plant and 20 hours in either sanitation or the laboratory.
• For internal applicants, this is an interview position and not based on seniority.

Role purpose:

• Half of this job (approximately 20 hours a week) will be to learn waste-water operations.
• The applicant will become proficient in all aspects of the Industrial Waste-water plant
• Data entry may be made into Microsoft Excel or Word.
• Ideally the candidate will become a licensed Class B waste-water operator within 3-5 years.
• The other half of the job will be to support the laboratory operations or sanitation
• Weekly flexibility may be required to cover vacations and other absences.

• Responsible for area-specific SHE procedure/policy
• Responsible for reporting all incidents, defects, and hazards
• Compliant with procedures that implement the requirements of the SHE policies and procedures
• Being responsible for their own actions
• Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others and the environment
• Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken
• Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure SHE Support’s activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost-effective manner

Job Requirements

Main Accountabilities:

• Ability to perform calibrations and troubleshooting of analytical equipment
• Familiarity with quality systems in a regulated environment including GMP and GLP requirements
• A team player that possesses strong analytical, oral/written communication and computer skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision
• Communication to Management, Supervisors or leads when undesirable results are obtained.
• Inventory control. Making sure waste-water supplies are in stock, and when deliveries come, that stock is put away.
