Job description
JOBWinnetka's Public Works Department is seeking applicants for the temporary full-time position of Laborer. Key responsibilities include: performing unskilled labor in the Streets and Sewer divisions; operating a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water, sanitary sewer, street, and storm drainage facilities and systems.Primary Duties: Perform pavement maintenance, repair, removal, and disposal.Perform parkway/roadside maintenance removal of stump cuttings, backfilling, repairing, and seeding disturbed parkway areas.Sidewalk removal, replacement, and repairs.Brush and bush trimming; mowing roadside vegetation.Assist with installing traffic control, street signage, and pavement markings.Patch cracks in underground vaults and manholes; brush or spray walls with waterproof compounds.Lift, carry, and/or wheel heavy material.Read maps, blueprints, and take measurements.Provide janitorial services at Village facilities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.One to three months related experience or training preferred.Working knowledge of general public works labor activities.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
