Job Title: Lead Character Artist
Job Location: Fully Remote or Portland, Oregon

Our client is made up of AAA industry leaders and are well known in the hardcore, Action/RPG Genre. With a studio size of less than 30 professionals, this team offers an open development environment where your work will make a tremendous impact to the games they are developing.

An ideal candidate would be an industry veteran with an excellent aptitude for both: artistic as well as multi-disciplinary technical side of the job. This person is both a tech-savvy Lead Character Artist who would establish technical pipeline for the department as well as an excellent Character Artist with a keen eye for realism.

  • Prototyping and executing efficient Unreal Engine character-centric workflows.
  • Establishing studio-wide full-cycle character creation pipeline.
  • Working closely with Animation and Technical Animation team to ensure department’s asset handoffs, and overall inter-departmental pipeline support.
  • Creating/overseeing character damage assets(dismemberment, damage geo+texture passes) and creating systems for managing those assets working closely with game design team.
  • Technical documentation, pipeline standardization, assets hand-off, project/milestone planning.
  • Working with outsource studios.
  • Ongoing in-game/in-engine character art quality control.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Ability to work with a team of specialized artists and assemble/integrate in-to an Unreal Engine project full game-ready characters that are made of multiple assets (face, hair, cloth, body, accessories, etc.).
  • Ability to create highly detailed AAA cinematic-quality in-game characters from the ground up with focus on realism.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Project planning skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter.
  • Experience of leading versatile character teams in GameDev industry.
  • Deep knowledge of human anatomy and practical know-how required to achieve cinematic quality characters in videogames.
