The Lead Commodity Settlements Analyst – Gas Supply will be a key member of the Commodity Finance Controller team within Commodity Settlements providing expertise and diligence in delivering Golden Pass’ Gas Supply related invoicing activities while also supporting general commodity settlement needs as required. This role reports into the Commodity Settlements Manager within the Golden Pass LNG Finance team and will be co-located on the trade floor with the Commercial group. The Lead Commodity Settlements Analyst – Gas Supply role is a great opportunity for a settlements analyst with strong natural gas experience to come in and help lead the setup and operationalization of a world class LNG export/import operation.
Essential Duties / Functions
- Work in partnership with Commodity Finance Management and Information Technology team on the development and testing of Energy Trading and Risk Management system capabilities required to support Gas Supply settlement best practices, as well as other commodity settlements as needed, with a goal of efficient operations and financial control.
- Perform timely and accurate settlement of Gas Supply and other transactions as required.
- Ensure invoice processing meets with contract and confirmation terms in addition to Finance internal controls and processes at all times.
- Effectively manage settlement issue resolution with Commercial teams and related third parties.
- Prepare settlement variance analysis and reconciliations. Summarize and communicate financial impacts to Commodity Finance Management and Commercial teams as required.
- Actively monitor monthly settlement cash activity in conjunction with Finance/Treasury team; assist with settlement cash related inquiries. Provide prompt follow up action with external clients as required.
- Perform analysis and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts particularly accounts receivable and accounts payable. Provide timely escalation for any commodity settlements not meeting their respective due dates.
- Assist with month end close process. Participate in the review and recording of Gas Supply and other commodity related activity journal entries as required.
- Ensure assigned P&L and balance sheet activity entries are recorded, documented, reviewed, supported and archived in accordance with Finance internal controls.
- Perform and prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting as required. Participation on special project teams as requested.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other business based discipline.
Minimum experience required of the position.
- Strongly preferred 7+ years of progressive accounting experience working in a commodity trading environment including 3+ years as a senior lead analyst; must be able to effectively work with finance, commercial business development and logistics team members in a collaborative manner.
- Strong knowledge of natural gas settlement activity.
- Experience with settlement of physical and financial gas activities including pipeline tariffs.
- Natural gas volume actualization and/or power settlement experience is a plus.
- Experience with Energy Trade and Risk Management system implementation for settlement and volume actualization processes.
- Proven track record of high performance within a commodity settlement team.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
- SAP ERP experience
- ETRM system expertise as it relates to settlement functionality (Endur experience highly desirable)
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage priorities while meeting deadlines for assigned deliverables
- Demonstrates high level of professionalism; able to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
