The Lead DevOps Engineer will be part of an industry leading IT team working in a fast-paced environment at Pacific Dental Services. Under the guidance of the DevOps Manager, this individual will be responsible for day-to-day tasks functioning primarily as mid to upper tier support, assisting in software application deployments, source control management, and script automation. The DevOps Engineer is also responsible for ensuring software applications and resources are available to users.

- Lead Team by designing and building models for a world class team, leading with a continuous improvement mindset. Balancing among efficiency, streamlining functions, and ensuring long term sustainability.
- Create Infrastructure Requirement Documents for applications deployed in the enterprise.
- Responsible for all application deployments to multiple environments (development, testing, staging, and production) on a scheduled release calendar.
- Analyze hardware capacities of build infrastructure and provide recommendations to the Management team for improvements.
- Setup server and application configuration automation using Infrastructure as Code.
- Lead the DevOps discipline and roadmap as defined by the DevOps Manager and be responsible for managing all server/infrastructure related issues.
- Anticipate, identify, and recommend solutions for operational problems by monitoring system performance and studying operating targets.
- Design solutions with practical knowledge of both on premise and cloud-based solutions.
- Onboard and troubleshoot critical application related issues in coordination with the Systems and Network teams.
- Provide after-hours on-call deployment support and handle support issues.
- Participate in walkthrough and defect report meetings periodically using JIRA tickets to report, update and analyze the defect.
- Build/Enhance automated interfaces between tools, such as repositories/ticketing tools/testing tools, to build baseline management databases and interfaces as well as assist with other build automation tasks.
Required
- 7 years+ of experience working in DevOps.
- Bachelor’s degree or IT-related certification from accredited college or technical school.
- Strong skills in communication, both written and verbal.
- Experience with source control systems using GIT, BitBucket, or AWS CodeDeploy.
- Experience with scripting automation using Python, Perl, PHP, SQL, C#, Terraform, Powershell, .Net, Bash, VBScript, or JSON.
- Experience with configuration management tools using Puppet and VMWare CLI.
- Experience with software application delivery of .NET, NodeJS, AngularJS, and Web API applications.
- Experience with database delivery of SQL Server.
- Experience with working with multiple environments and environment promotion.
- Experience with Build and Release cycle using Source Control Management.
- Experience with build tools with .NET, Java, NodeJS, and SQL Server.
- Experience with Microsoft (2012, 2016, and 2022) and Linux Operation Systems (CentOS).
- Experience with Microsoft tools: Domain Controller, DNS, Active Directory / LDAP, and IIS.
Preferred
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in the dental industry or healthcare/multi-unit retail industry.
- 6+ years’ experience with a large EHR or PMS System such as Dentrix, Epic, Cerner.
- Amazon Web Services: CloudFormation, VPC, ELB, AutoScaling, RDS, Route53, S3, CloudWatch, Redshift, ECS.
- Experience with Kubernetes for containerized application management.
- Experience with Okta for Identity Management.
- Experience with LogicMonitor or New Relic application monitoring.

This is primarily a sedentary office classification but may require field visits and driving. Temperature conditions are controlled with no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. There is occasional exposure to irate staff, vendors or patients, but there is negligible anticipation of exposure to violence.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, keyboard, to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, see, talk and hear. The employee will frequently lift and/or carry reports, records and other materials that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch.
Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment.
