Lead EESI (Electric, Electronics and Software Integration) Engineer
Racine, WI- Direct Hire
Productive Resources (www.productiverseources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our customer's team at their facility in Racine, WI. As a member of their team, the EESI (Electric, Electronics and Software Integration) Engineer will plan, conduct, document functional, performance, inter-lock, diagnostic tests and tune the performance of the electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems and software in support of the development of Ag Tractors.
As a Lead EESI (Electric, Electronics and Software Integration) Engineer you will plan, conduct and document functional, performance, inter-lock, diagnostic tests and tune the performance of the electro-hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems and software in support of the development of Ag Tractors.
The position will be moved to the Racine, WI location. Interim coverage will need to be provided to the Burr Ridge facility with paid travel until the move is complete. Candidates who live 50 plus miles from the Racine location would be eligible for relocation assistance.
Duties:
Demonstrate an enhanced competency of electrical & software integration principles & practices. Use these techniques to solve complex problems & execute development/test plans in an independent manner with minimal guidance.- Lead the technical direction of the EESI team, which may include junior engineers, technicians, contractors, and/or co-ops. Act as the first point of contact for all members of the EESI team. Lead the execution of tests & ensure detail & quality standards are met in final reports.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of project stakeholders as the EESI Subject Matter Expert (SME) to define project scopes, targets, test/analysis plans, & budget estimates in areas of interest.
- Have "end to end" ownership of test procedures & development methodologies of assigned Tractor FBD (Functional Block Diagram) sub-systems. Drive collaboration with teams to define & develop new procedures as innovation drives new areas of testing. Development of detailed sub-system test specifications for functional, performance, interlock and diagnostic features of the software.
- Be a technical resource on testing and our product. Identify needed tools and create capital expenditure proposals with proper justification/payback. Lead projects in collaboration with suppliers to implement capital improvements.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA's, and other project definition activities based on your technical understanding of our product and how it should function for the end customer.
- Complete safety reviews and compliance/certification tests, including functional safety and EMC tests. Provide technical guidance on planning, testing, analysis, and final reporting for certification testing.
- Select, calibrate, and install the correct instrumentation for the task at hand while ensuring all information required will be covered and there is integrity in the data. Prepare the data acquisition equipment, write drive scripts to automate sequences/cycles when needed. Provide prototype build support for EESI related activities.
- Conduct the tests on vehicles or in some cases on bench/simulators collecting data as needed using tools such as but not limited to Vector CANalyzer, ETAS Inca and dSPACE CalDesk. May require test software to be complied using tools like Green Hills.
- Perform tests on components, sub-systems and/or full vehicle. Whether it is a stationary evaluation of hydraulic circuit efficiency, suspension optimization while driving over bumps and in the field, or high-speed brake decelerations - this is a hands-on position!
- Collect and analyze data. Identify trends or issues and gauge performance. Confirm whether the systems under test meet internal specifications, external legal/safety requirements, and our customers' expectations.
- Benchmark competitive equipment, confirming our product lines place us in a "best in class" position. Identify areas of improvement and quantify the gaps.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues. Enlist SMEs to aid in identifying root-cause and corrective action.
- Document results by crafting effective and formal technical reports. Present your findings to the project stakeholders. Drive discussion, recommend solutions, lobby for changes if needed, and coordinate next steps. Document non-conformance and follow-up on the status of changes. Confirm issues are resolved through proposed design/process changes or supplier quality corrective action. Review reports from the EESI team for quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Agricultural, Computer, Mechanical, or other related engineering discipline.
- 6 plus years' relevant industry experience
- 4 plus years' experience with software or electronics testing experience, or experience in system/software development.
- 4 plus years' Experience with Vector CANalyzer, MatLab, Simulink, INCA, Greenhill, PLC, VeSys or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of CAN communications, ideally J1939, knowledge of Ethernet and test automation systems.
