Job Summary:
The Lead Integration Data Center Tech's role is to facilitate complex build Integration projects moving builds forward to meet targeted customer delivery schedules. The IDCS Lead provides direction and guidance to a team of technical resources. The IDCS Lead works with several different groups including technical specialists, automation/scripting developers, network engineers, quality control group, and build technicians. The IDCS Lead is expected to acquire knowledge and experience in all facets of the build process, from inception, to the completed product. The IDCS Lead effectively and accurately conveys requirements to the build team. The IDCS Lead leads onsite delivery teams to support field work and customer build handoffs. The IDCS Lead Technician will build and guide resources on a daily basis while leading successful deployments to final product delivery.

Responsibilities:
Include but not limited to:
  • Lead a group of build technicians, providing assistance and support to move the team towards successful project completion
  • Decipher customer documentation and specifications to turn a logical construct into a physical build. This includes understanding what components in quantity and type comprise the build and how those parts should be configured and installed
  • Possess the ability to place all components, including disks, NICs, memory, into the customer defined configuration
  • Direct rack and stack of hardware into cabinets, following customer elevation documentation
  • Learn the customer labeling process and naming standards for power and network and be able to meet the quality control expectations for that labeling
  • Conduct power testing and respond to any DOAs by debugging and then opening tickets with appropriate hardware vendors as necessary
  • Assist automation team in running custom scripts to complete hardware verification and populate files with output
  • Using customer and internal documentation, conduct regular thorough reviews of builds to verify they are being built to spec
  • Attend internal meetings to report status on current build projects
  • Attend external customer meetings as necessary to review project status and any obstacles
  • Assign appropriate resources, based on skills and knowledge required, to essential tasks
  • Confirm that the build team has adequate staffing, space and power to complete their builds. Address fluctuations in demand by implementing creative strategies for balancing resources across multiple concurrent projects
  • Perform one-on-one meetings with direct reports on monthly basis at minimum
  • Work with IDCS Build Coordinators to provide skills training and mentoring to build technicians
  • Manage direct reports’ PTO time through SHI’s web portal
  • Working with the Documentation Specialist, create and maintain up-to-date project documentation
  • Work closely with warehouse teams to advise on crating status and any delays potentially impacting the shipping schedule
  • Process staged inventory and order modifications working closely with Sales and warehouse staff to address any issues and necessary updates
  • Apply Gemba Lean processes of improvement by engaging with employees, gaining knowledge about work processes, and exploring opportunities for continuous improvement
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or direct equivalent Data Center experience
  • 2 Years Experience in an Integration Data Center Services organization, or some equivalent background.
  • 2 Years Leadership Experience, including managing a team of resources and documenting any issues within the team.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience required in the following areas:
    • Some technical / hardware / software experience with the following vendors, including but not limited to Lenovo, IBM, HP, Dell, Supermicro, Cisco, Juniper, Pure and Fortinet.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to decipher technical documentation and communicate technical detail to team members translating logical information into a physical build
  • Ability to work with multiple resources under tight time constraints to meet strict deadlines while maintaining order and professionalism
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to complete technical configurations, such as firmware upgrades, network settings, and custom settings as required by the customer across multiple vendor platforms
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work with multiple teams to manage concurrent rack integration projects
  • Ability to transfer knowledge from one environment (i.e. US Build Configuration Center) to another environment (i.e. UK Build Configuration Center) and convey the cross-discipline skills necessary to create a new working environment
  • Ability to identify process enhancements in the build / quality control / hardware verification processes
Preferred Skills:
  • HPE / Moonshot Experience
  • Experience in an Integration Data Center Services organization, or some similar background
  • Ability to bring disparate teams together to work towards a common goal.
  • Ability to provide creative, out-of-the-box solutions to challenging problems while maintaining a mindfulness towards minimizing risk and ensuring project timelines

Preferred:
  • Comp TIA A+
  • Comp TIA Server+

  • Willing to work extended hours to complete projects and meet deadlines
Additional Information:
  • The estimated annual pay range for this position is $40,000 - $70,000. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
