About the Position:

The Lead Previs/Postvis Artist will head a team of artists who are combining live-action shots with animated CG assets for large scale VFX projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a Postvis Supervisor as well as a team of fellow Postvis Artists and have a proficient knowledge of film production, 3D tracking software, compositing, rotomation, animation, effects, and lighting.

We're looking for a candidate with a strong VFX background and a proven track record of meeting high quality standards on top-tier Film and Television projects. We value a tight-knit team that celebrates artistic freedom and pushing the creative bounds.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of artists in the creation of 3D animations for CG Characters and Creatures using our state of the art technology
• Intake production photography and combine CG elements to validate footage, provide placeholder visual effects shots, and refine visual effects design.
• Oversee the work of a team of Previs/Postvis artists
• Participate in the development of aesthetic and technical solutions to support the storytelling
• Work closely with the CG and Animation Supervisors and Production to find creative and technical solutions and approaches that meet project requirements and deadlines.
• In collaboration with production, plan and assign appropriate tasks to team members, taking into consideration their abilities, level and the project workflow and timing
• Provide feedback on artist’s work to ensure it meets quality standards and corresponds with client’s artistic vision
• Mentor members of their team by providing training and sharing of knowledge
• Keep Production and the project team informed of the status of work, issues to be resolved, ramifications of problems encountered and recommend potential solutions
• Ensure deadlines are met, advising the project team promptly if delays could be expected, whether by themselves or a member of their team
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of their specialty and be on the lookout for the latest technological advances in methods and approaches

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Previs/Postvis Artist, within the VFX industry
• Strong knowledge of cameras, staging, composition, perspective, pacing, timing, lighting and general filmmaking concepts in both animation and live action context
• Ability to model, texture, rig and light optimize assets for real-time workflow
• Excellent knowledge of Unreal, Nuke, Maya and editing software
• Knowledge of Blender is a plus
• Excellent sense of prioritization and respect of deadlines
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and act as a positive role model and mentor
