Job description
Manages the day to day execution of merchandise processing through the Regional Distribution Center (RDC). Serves as the designated ‘go to’ or lead supervisor for the shift in the absence of an operations manager, general manager, or director.
1. Provides training, sets performance goals and provides evaluative feedback to all direct reports.
2. Plans, organizes and distributes work assignments to associates so that financial goals are met or exceeded. Monitors completion of job assignments.
3. Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for Material Handlers and RDC clericals.
4. Initiates, conducts and seeks appropriate approvals involving disciplinary action up to and including terminations of all Supply Chain associates within assigned area.
5. Ensures department-level compliance with key company standards of safety, facility maintenance, postings/notifications and other administrative duties as identified and/or directed by MGR, Operations.
6. Takes proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrinkage control disciplines and programs and accepts high level of responsibility for distribution center’s shrinkage performance.
7. Assumes all supervisory responsibilities concerning Human Resources policies and procedures and wage administration including daily and weekly KRONOS payroll processing.
8. Takes direction and coordinates priorities from any and all operations managers responsible for any and all departments on a shift.
9. Acts as the shift leader providing guidance and counsel to other supervisors on the shift in the absence of operations managers, general managers, directors.
10. Coordinates and communicates any inter-shift transition providing updates on any priorities, special projects, or any shift or department business that needs to be clearly documented to support the incoming shift.
11. In the event of an incident of any type while working independent of an operations manager, general manager or director, serves as the coordinator for any communication to other leaders within the RDC.
Qualification
1. Two or more years previous experience in a supervisory capacity within a Big Lots Regional Distribution Center or previous operational distribution center experience required.
2. Working knowledge of end to end RDC operational processes including product movement and warehouse management systems (WMS) and labor management systems (LMS).
3. Solid and demonstrated leadership skills.
4. Ability to make sound and informed decisions without direct supervision.
5. Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
6. Previous experience using Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
7. Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills required.
8. Ability to perform physical activity at a sustained pace including walking, bending and lifting within a Distribution Center environment required.
