Library Branch Manager - Oak Ridge Campus


Description of Duties:

Administrative/Management: Manages Branch Oak Ridge campus library. Direct supervision of branch library’s support staff employee, Library Assistant 3. Indirect supervision of student workers and temporary workers through Library Assistant 3. Schedules evening and weekend coverage. Manages physical facilities. Maintains branch library usage statistics. Makes and implements strategic plans for branch library development in consultation with library director. Acting director when library director is on leave.


Collection Development and Analysis: Oversees overall collection analysis and development of all RSCC library collections. Develops and approves book orders for all library collections with input from faculty and librarians. Recommends items for purchase. Assists director and other librarians in ongoing weeding projects to remove unneeded items from library collection.

Library Instruction: Develops and delivers library instruction to library users at branch library in partnership with classroom faculty. Lead library instructor for all nursing/allied health courses. Serves as course embedded librarian for online courses.


Reference: Delivers reference assistance/research consultations to students, faculty, college employees and community members in-person as well as by phone, email, and web-based chat client. Works with faculty on research projects. Works circulation desk as needed.


Other duties: Must work one evening a week on ground and a few Saturdays each semester virtually. Participation expected in college and professional committees.


Qualifications:

Required. Master’s Degree in Information Science or Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution


Required. 3-5 years’ experience as a librarian in a professional level position with experience in research consultation, collection development, and library instruction


Required. 3-5 years management/supervisory experience


Preferred. Experience with Ex Libris’s Alma/Primo library management system, EBSCO Collection Manager, ProQuest LibCentral, Ingram, and/or similar collection management tools


Preferred. Experience with nursing and allied health sciences resources
