Job description

The life enrichment coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and developing the overall operations of the Activities Department in accordance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies. The coordinator is to maintain a program of activities that reflects the resident’s comprehensive assessment and/or interests that will meet the physical, mental, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the resident, specializing in Dementia residents.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops and implements the Activities programs and budgets. Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates a diversified activities program seven days a week, including evenings and weekends, within budgetary guidelines.
• Develops and revises the department policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of facility policies and procedures and operates the Activities Program in compliance with all regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Ensures appropriate staffing by conducting interviews and hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising employees. Prepares employee performance evaluations and initiates promotion, transfer, and termination. Conducts staff meetings.
• Oversees and directs resident activities and schedules.
• Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
• Satisfies all educational in-service requirements mandated by CHI Living Communities, the department, external accrediting, and regulatory agencies.

In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the life enrichment coordinator shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission statement and core values (reverence, integrity, compassion, excellence) of CHI Living Communities and will be evaluated on such basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Dementia Certification or the ability to become dementia certified.

Experience: Two years of experience in social or recreational programs within the past five years, preferably in long-term care.
