IT Specialist supports, maintains, improves, and oversees the UNIX/Linux operating environment of the Enterprise Data Center steady-state services, enabling customers to use the technology and infrastructure resources with agreed service levels.
Responsibilities:
- Develop test plans, perform testing, assess and recommend security requirements, document and sustain RHEL operating systems for use within the Data Center Environment.
- Oversee the Installing, configuring, testing, patching, and provide recommendations for accreditation of new RHEL technologies to be included in the Enterprise design.
- Drafting the following documentation for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL): Techniques and Procedures (TPs), Best Business Practices (BBPs), Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs), System Design Plans (SDPs), Systems Integration Test (SITs), and Systems Acceptance Test (SATs).
- Participating in the development of all supporting documentation for the accreditation, including a functional architecture with ports, protocols, and services; data flows; management; security plan; and hardware and software list.
- Resolving Tier III support requests from all supported sites within the enterprise.
- Preparing LOMs (List of Materials) for acquisition of hardware and software to support RHEL systems.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Capable to obtain and possess a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Develop sound solutions to complex problems, produce system level reports, report status to Senior level Management.
- Proven Subject Matter Expert skills working with / Supporting Enterprise level RHEL and other UNIX/Linux variations.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Self-confidence, assertiveness, and commitment.
- A highly motivated person focusing on personal development, including strong organizational, generational, and national cultural awareness.
Education:
Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
