Job description

We are looking for an experienced lead locksmith to join our team. Our territory includes Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon. We are seeking someone who enjoys performing locksmith work and also strategizing new business opportunities with the management team.

Our locksmiths are skilled tradesmen, focused on commercial work. Our service includes exit devices, door closers, auto operators, full door replacements, master key systems, access control systems (card, keypad, biometric, mobile phone), video surveillance, safes – we do it all!

Compensation range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, with the potential to earn overtime pay and bonuses. Total compensation estimated at $40,000 - $60,000/year. Relocation package or sign on bonus potential for qualified candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 7+ years of experience in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; no accidents within the past 3 years
• Must be able to fluently understand, speak and write English
• Must be organized and clean cut
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and other required pre-employment screening.
• Have experience training or mentoring associates (preferred)

Technical Requirements: * 5 years’ commercial locksmith experience

• Ability to use a smartphone and/or tablet device (i.e. work with a field service app, take and submit pictures and job completion forms)
• Factory certifications (preferred)

Physical Requirements: * Ability to push, pull and lift at least 50lbs

• Ability to kneel, crouch and stoop
• Ability to reach above and below the shoulders
• Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull
• Ability to climb a ladder and work above ground
• Able to withstand external weather conditions year-round

Customer Service: * Provide a high level of timely & accurate customer service.

• Communicate effectively with the client to determine what services are needed.
• Respond to general inquiries from customers.

Operations Support: * Receive verbal instructions from management and customers.

• Perform small projects as directed by management.
• Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time.

Requirements: Ability to: * install, repair and maintain commercial hardware, including but not limited to: doors (and anything on a door), access control (keypad, card, biometric, mobile phone), video surveillance, intercoms

• modify hardware for locks
• create master key systems
• commercial lock re-keying
• interpret a variety of instructions in written, diagram or schedule form
• clean, adjust, calibrate & service equipment used
• read operating instructions and procedure manuals
• write simple correspondence
• effectively present information to customers & commercial clients
• cut keys by code
• perform emergency lockouts (for commercial clients only), without damaging hardware

Access Control and Safe experience is a Plus

Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
