Essential Job Functions:
This will be a full-time remote position. You will be required to travel 70% of the year. Your general responsibilities, under the supervision of the Operations Technical Director, will include:
- When not on tours, you will be expected to work remotely, thus must be able to work autonomously.
- Be highly organized and efficient. Time management skills are key.
- A quick thinking problem-solver with the ability to find strategic solutions, during time constraints and at times a high-pressured environment.
- Collaborative approach and understanding of broad view planning.
- A willingness to evolve all aspects of the operations, including regular reviews and incorporation of better safety protocols, operating procedures, and team dynamic.
- Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, advance transfer planning, and any special events that may need your support.
- Maintain irregular and extended working hours.
- Assist technical directors in maintaining a positive work environment.
- Preserve the on-going; long-term “opening night” quality, the designer’s vision, and the artistic integrity of the production
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times, by adhering to all established safety policies and procedures, tour rules and regulations; participate in all required safety classes.
- Accepting all other duties as assigned by the touring technical directors and the Operations Technical Director, workload permitting.
Job specific requirements:
- Oversee and execute logistics during load-in and load-out, including, but not limited to trucking dock schedules, forklift operation during transfers, backload planning.
- Manage local staff to move roadcases and crates into their respective areas.
- Keep loading areas organized, keeping in mind what equipment will be needed when and by which department.
- Oversee and provide feedback to the technical operations on each tour including all aspects of tour technical equipment, such as lighting, audio, video, rigging, scenic elements and job performance.
- Identify and provide support and tools to cope with the constantly evolving environment.
- Identify areas of the transfers where improvement is needed and be part of the planning process with the tour technical directors and fly-ins.
- Evolve the operations to be efficient and find ways to reduce the time it takes to load-in and load-out the shows.
- Maintain composure and a united front with the operation management team, technical directors, and fly-ins at all times.
- Work with the logistics department for warranty verifications on rental equipment.
- Build dock schedules with the tour TD’s for each transfer.
- Operate the forklift during transfers.
- Provide feedback and operational improvements to the management team when necessary.
- Ensure a safe work environment at the loading dock, back stage, front of house, and stage areas.
- Attend required production meetings and team meetings.
- Able to lift, push or pull objects up to 80 pounds using appropriate tools.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Operations Technical Director, workload permitting.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- At least 3 years experience in venue logistics, with superior forklift skills.
- Previous touring experience preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of roadcase management, creating truckloads, and overall excellent organization skills.
- Must and be an effective communicator, able to effectively lead local crews during the transfers.
- Must be able to step in at any time during the transfer to provide assistance on tour when issues arise.
- Must have previous forklifting experience.
- Must be willing to get your hands dirty if a tour is struggling to deliver on time.
- Highly adaptable and able to take quick effective decisions, while under time and space constraints.
- Strong working knowledge of current theatrical production equipment and processes.
- Must be able to effectively interpret technical drawings, truckloads, and venue drawings.
- Must have some working knowledge of Autocad.
- Strong
- 30-hour OSHA course completion card is a plus.
- Current First-Aid certification is a plus.
- Current Forklift certification is a plus.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must have working knowledge of Google platform.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in North America, UK, EU, and South America.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Verification of the right to work in the United States, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization.
