Job Summary

We are looking for an energetic problem solver with an interest in logistics to join our team in Bend, Oregon. The Logistics Specialist role offers the opportunity to learn about the transportation and logistics industry in a progressive environment. The ideal candidate should be customer service oriented, proactive, organized, and able to meet deadlines.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Engaging in the assigning or dispatching of shipments by truck by making outbound calls and taking inbound calls in response to the loads available list that is issued daily by the company. Including the preparation and faxing of the truck dispatch notices confirming the origin, destination, mileage, and rate.

· Ensure that scheduled shipments follow interstate trucking laws, regulations, and company policy.

· Negotiate freight rates with carriers and brokers. Communicate market/capacity trends and sets rates for trading based on market conditions.

· Quote freight rates to members on the trading floor.

· Solve shipping/logistics problems and/or claims as they arise, including investigating shipper or consignee complaints relating to lost or damaged product and/or shortages in shipment.

· Follow up with carriers/brokers for pick-up and delivery.

· Provide exceptional customer service while building relationships with new and existing freight companies.

Essential Skills:

· Strong interpersonal communication skills – must be able to maintain cooperative relations with department personnel, customers, mills, and traders.

· Excellent attention to detail and exceptional accuracy skills.

· Ability to calculate and understand mathematical concepts.

· Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

· Ability to carry out instructions both written and oral with minimal supervision.

· Ability to collect data, identify and define problems and create effective solutions.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects while fielding many interruptions throughout the working day.

· Computer literacy and Microsoft Office knowledge specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
