Roles and Responsibilities:

Role Summary/Purpose


The Flexible Machine Operator II will operate a variety of machines ranging in size and complexity to manufacture aircraft engine components that meet quality specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of initial machine setup including loading and unloading parts.
  • Maintain operating adjustments of machine equipment including stopping at precise points.
  • Examine machinery and equipment to check working order including diagnosis of problems and/or locating faults.
  • Use physical coordination to operate machinery and equipment. This includes coordinating hand and foot movements, maintaining a steady hand, manipulating objects with hand and fine movements with fingers.
  • Verify all materials are available for a project and ensure process is carried out and completed to a set standard.
  • Work to close tolerance from verbal or written instructions, blueprints or sketches.
  • Accountable for safety, product quality, equipment, work standard and work methods.
  • Perform basic math including counting, applying simple formulae with and without a machine (decimals, percent, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc.).
  • Verify accuracy of calculations and check correct written recording in documents.
  • Perform visual/physical examination of parts for fine and gross defects (size, color, texture, etc.) to ensure product meets quality specifications.
  • Use physical measuring instruments including rule, micrometer, scale, caliper, Vernier, etc.
  • Follow complex verbal and written instructions, asking questions to establish information required.
  • Frequent interpersonal interaction with supervision and peers.
  • Use of hand-held tools and powered machinery including precision and non-precision tools and instruments.
  • Enter details into a computer and read visual display unit.
  • Carry out repetitive tasks and assembly.
  • Operate machinery in a safe manner and keep work areas and equipment clean.
  • Instruct and train other employees.
  • Regularly stand for the majority of the shift.
  • Abides by Company rules, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Willingness to work at a tobacco free site.
  • Able to work 2nd shift (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM).
  • Must work overtime, as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Required to work occasional weekend shifts with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs and safety shoes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Machining Technology or equivalent degree.
  • Previous experience in a machine manufacturing environment, operating complex machinery (EDM, Grinders, ES, etc.) and reading precision instruments (gauges, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and planning.
  • Ability and willingness to make process improvements and work in a fast paced team-based environment.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to use computers.
