Summary/Purpose
The Machine Repair person will be responsible for repairing a wide variety of machines and required to plan their own work and provide direction for setters on trouble shooting. This person will be capable of performing complete machine rebuilds as needed. This person will deal with outside vendors and technical support people and must be able to make recommendations on rebuilding or replacing equipment.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Able to plan and perform minor and major repairs/rebuild of equipment
- Maintaining the availability of machine repair components as well as a machine repair history
- Responsible for general safety including Lockout/Tagout
- Use hand tools, power tool and precision measuring tools
- Responsible to keep the work area clean and safe
- Perform Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
- Understand Impact on Department KPI’s
- Use TMS (Maintenance Management Software)
- Operation of Plant Services Equipment
- Metal Fabrication
- Arc/Mig/Tig Welding
- Oxygen/Acetylene Cutting & Welding
- Machine Installation
- Pipe Fitting
- Basic Plumbing & Carpentry Skills
- Fork Lift Operation
- Motor, Pump & Gearbox Repair
- Bearing Replacement
- Gasket & Seal Replacement
- Hoist, Cranes & Monorails
- Shaft Alignment
- Sprockets, Sheaves, Chains, Pullets, Belts & Drive Systems
- Pneumatic Systems
- Hydraulic Systems
- Must be able to read blueprints and layouts
- Must have basic electrical skills and computer skills
- Knowledge of Facility Utilities
- Thorough understanding of grinding principles and gauging techniques
- Good problem solving/troubleshooting skills, good team building skills and effective communication skills
- This position will require moderate to heavy physical requirements
- Use of hand tools including wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets
- Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, conversion from English to Metric and vice versa
- High school diploma/G.E.D.
- Strong mechanical skills, must be able to use shop math and blue print reading
- Understanding of machine set-up and use of analytical skills in problem solving
- Prior machine operating experience and setter experience required

- This position has an exposure to moderate noise levels, moving mechanical parts, electrical power distribution and controls, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, steam distribution and generation, water, various types of lubricants, chemical and wash baths, extreme heat, mechanical machine operation, etc.
- Will be regularly required to climb, stand, sit, and reach with hands, fingers, and arms.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required.
- This position requires regular lifting of work up to 40 pounds, and push or pulling work up to 125 pounds with proper equipment.
