Summary Description:
Machine Shop Manager is responsible for leading the machine shop team and overseeing the production of machined parts for ENTEK’s extrusion equipment, wear parts business and job shop work as required. Partners with other management team members to achieve team, division, and company goals.

  • Ensure applicable product quality, product safety, and workplace environmental, health and safety (EH&S) requirements are met
  • Conduct audits to ensure standard processes are being followed
  • Responsible for employee training and maintains skills scorecards. Provides training documentation to ensure process is transparent, up to date and that level ups are current.
  • Conducts interviews and employee reviews
  • Maintains required staffing levels, and ensure all shifts are properly staffed.
  • Provide coaching sessions, documented discussions and progressive discipline in coordination with human resources as necessary
  • Able to resolve conflict and promote positive moral by utilizing servant leadership principles
  • Coordinate with production scheduler to ensure machining cells are following and maintaining locked schedules to meet quality, On Time Delivery and KPI’s
  • Ensure optimum utilization of equipment including cycle and setup times
  • Establish and communicate daily part production schedule and expectations by use of 24 hour boards
  • Utilize daily management boards to identify production problems and work to eliminate bottlenecks and roadblocks
  • Monitor tooling Kan Ban levels to ensure costs are within the monthly machine supplies budget
  • Promote and lead continuous improvement efforts throughout the shop
  • Review and approve daily time cards
  • Ensure team members are up to date on safety and environmental training
  • Create work instructions and/or standard processes and audit the same
  • Self-driven, consistently perform high quality work in a safe manner without supervision
  • Represent ENTEK with the highest standard of professional conduct when interacting with suppliers and customers


Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of five years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced algebra and statistical theory
  • Ability to work with concepts such as limits and engineering equations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret most documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, employees, and vendors
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Well versed in relevant software such as CAD/CAM and MS Office
  • Six Sigma certifications to strengthen decisions on process improvements

Physical/Mental Requirements and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended lengths of time
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus

Job Benefits:

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
