JOB DESCRIPTION
The role of the macOS & JAMF Engineer is an integral part of the Technology Office, responsible for implementing and maintaining systems and platforms supporting the Information Technology infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Manager of Information Technology, the macOS & JAMF Engineer is also responsible for reporting and updating security practices and providing tier II support on complex issues.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the Mobile Device Management (MDM) Server for inventory, software deployment/updates, device security, imaging, and reporting
  • Build, test, and maintain the School computer images (Mac) and software across all divisions and departments
  • Assist the Information Technology Manager with reporting, tracking, investigating, and remediating malicious processes found on school-owned equipment (viruses, malware, intrusion detection, compromised passwords, suspicious logins)
  • Manage the Apple systems for computer and application deployments (Apple DEP, VPP)
  • Manage user account life cycle and permissions across multiple systems and networks
  • Manage the team of summer interns while overseeing the completion of multiple project deployments
  • Work closely with Human Resources to assist with onboarding of new employees
  • Provide tier II support for complex issues unable to be resolved by the Helpdesk Support Specialist

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with JAMF Pro required
  • Basic knowledge of networking (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP)
  • Experience with Remote Desktop Services
  • Understanding of backup tools
  • Understanding of anti-virus/anti-malware tools
  • Shell (e.g., bash, ksh) scripting experience
  • Knowledge of macOS virtualization solutions
  • Apple hardware and macOS software installation and configuration experience required
  • Ability to train others in applications and operating system fundamentals
  • Problem solver and self-starter
  • Ability to find, diagnose, and recommend solutions for complex computing/configuration problems
  • Ability to identify, develop, test, and deploy systems automation efficiencies in routine work tasks and systems administrative functions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT security best practices
