Description
Under the general supervision of the Master Mechanic and Leadman does installation, maintenance, repair and construction work. Wage range between $26.31 - $31.75
Is proficient in one or more of the following skills and has a sound working knowledge of most of the remainder, i.e.; electrical and gas welding; black-smithing, rigging, pipefitting, machine tool set-up and operation, electrical installation and repair of both power and control circuits, sheet metal layout and working, heavy and light machinery repair, construction, maintenance and installation, etc. May do some painting and carpentry work, and occasionally will assist in training those with lesser skills.
Understands the importance of product safety, legality and quality. Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintains production records as required and is familiar with the principles of the plant’s HACCP program.
Usually works under a minimum of supervision. Frequently directs the work of others. Operates any and all plant tools. Is able to read from any blueprint, interprets construction and installation instructions, and has a thorough working knowledge of shop mathematics. May do some routine tasks such as greasing, oiling, cleaning, and inspection of equipment, buildings, and attachments.
Is able to locate and remedy trouble in all of the plant's various machines, equipment, and installations - in the filed of the skill or skills in which he is proficient.
Keeps working area clean, neat, and orderly, and tools clean and in good repair. Does other jobs of a related nature ad directed.
Normally requires three years' training and experience to qualify, two years general shop experience, and one year on a specialty.
