Maintenance / Electrical Technician

Primary Purpose:
The Maintenance / Electrical Technician is responsible for all the activities of electrical maintenance in the manufacturing environment. The Maintenance / Electrical Technician will obtain permits and perform electrical work as required by law to control and maintain facility equipment, infrastructure, and operations. This position has the opportunity to develop into a Maintenance Supervisor role.
Job Description:
- Regularly inspect and evaluate equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Follow recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment.
- Maintain records on equipment status and maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and assets per a set schedule.
- Troubleshoot and repair / replace PLC equipment.
- Provide written details of work performed on Work Order forms and other documents.
- Perform, facilitate, and manage special projects assigned in time set for each project.
- Install and repair telephones, light fixtures, electrical controls, motors, and appliances using hand tools and electric drills.
- Verify equipment and new installations meet requirements of the National Electrical Code.
- Determine materials needed for most frequently occurring repair work, prepare requisitions, and monitor inventory.
- Train lower-level apprentice Electricians and others.
- Develop plans and estimates for electrical projects; includes determining time, equipment, and human and material resources needed to complete the work.
- Prepare written reports on ongoing projects and on the condition of machinery.
- Maintain and facilitate effective training programs as needed.
- Perform other maintenance related work as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience working with 480-volt equipment.
- Willing to be available to direct resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the possibility of holidays as well.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, and personal computer.
- Ability to read / interpret technical documents.
Preferred:
- Experience troubleshooting and/or repairing PLC systems.
- 2+ years of Electrician experience.
Education/Certification:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Electrician license.
- A degree or any certifications / training is a plus.
