Maintenance Foreman (Weekend)
Job Summary
The LAR Refinery, located in Carson, California, has an opening for a Maintenance Foreman (Weekend) who will supervise and lead maintenance work group typically of union-represented crafts. This position will be responsible for safe and efficient execution of maintenance work in an environmentally compliant manner. The hours of the position is Thursday - Sunday - 6 AM - 4:30 PM and on-call and TAR support is rare.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise and lead craft work group to ensure maintenance work is efficiently executed without incident in an environmentally compliant manner.

Assist in setting schedules. Monitor and appraise progress to ensure productivity, work quality and schedule adherence. Ensure team understands work scope and performance expectations.

Promote proactive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) focus.

Ensure work orders are satisfactorily completed and properly closed out. Assist with troubleshooting.

Communicate daily activities related to manpower, accomplishments and problem areas to management.

Identify training needs and participates in development of training programs for craft skill pool. Ensure assigned craft personnel are adequately trained for their job assignment.

Maintain visible and active field presence to promote safe working environment and ensure adherence to safe work practices. Participate in audits and near-miss/incident investigations. Follow-up on safety issues until closure. Active member of safety committee.

Coordinate with planning and scheduling to ensure appropriateness of job packages. Ensure materials used comply with current engineering standards. Identify and resolve delays that would prevent schedule attainment. Participate in maintenance cost control including challenging need for discretionary work. Participating member of Maintenance leadership team. Work collaboratively with other foremen, planning & scheduling and reliability teams to develop repair strategies and maintain reliability of refinery plant mechanical equipment in support of continuous operations.

Maintain current, accurate and complete records for assigned area.

Accountable for fair and uniform application of policies and procedures.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
-
Must have a High School Diploma or GED degree.
-
Must have at least 5 years of experience as maintenance craftsperson in a refinery, petro-chemical or other related heavy industry.

Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.

Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.

Must have a clean and valid driver’s license.

Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.

Travel is not required.

Preferred Qualifications
-
6 or more years of craftsperson maintenance experience in refinery and/or petrochemical facility preferred.

Prior leadership experience is preferred.
