Position Title: Assumption-St. Bridget Maintenance & Groundskeeper (full time with benefits package)
Reports to: ASB Principal & Vice-Principal of Operations

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
The Maintenance & Groundskeeper employee works under the direction of the Vice-Principal of Operation on multiple areas of the status, function, upgrades and repairs of all buildings and grounds of Assumption-St. Bridget School, to ensure safety and functionality. The facilities must be maintained in accordance with all local city, county, state, federal, and Archdiocesan guidelines, including those set forth in the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Because many of the functions of the Facilities & Maintenance Employee require work when students are not present, and she/he needs to be present for a portion of the school day, the hours may be adjusted to allow major responsibilities to be completed.
Major Responsibilities (including but not limited to, under Vice-Principal of Operations direction):
Daily Responsibilities
- Walk grounds in morning and afternoonPick up all garbage
Check for damage/vandalism
Monitor school facilities and grounds on a daily basis for any safety or security concerns and take appropriate action
- Water plants around campus
- Leaves - blow/rake
- Check hallways and classroomsPick up garbage
Check for damage/vandalism
Check for leaks, broken items, lights, etc.
Address teacher and staff needs
- Check facilities log/requests
- Check heat/temperature in all parts of buildings
- Respond to immediate needs in the building/grounds
- Respond to student needs such as vomit, blood, urine or other types of classroom/student needs
· Keep all janitorial work spaces clean, orderly, maintained, and locked to student access
· Be “on call” as a first responder for emergencies and issues that arise
Weekly Responsibilities
- Get all balls off gym and school roof
- Check gutters on all roofs, clean as needed
- Weeding, mowing, maintenance of grounds
- Meet with Vice Principal of Operations to go over needs, concerns, issues
Monthly
- Attend Facilities Committee meeting
Work with Vice-Principal of Operations to:Send reminders to committee
Set agenda
Post meeting notes on safety board after meeting
- Review budget, review spending and upcoming costs with Vice-Principal of Operations
- School walk through with Vice Principal of Operations and cleaning companyDocument walk-through notes
Check rooms and hallways for areas needing extra attention
- Check supply levels, communicate order as necessary from WAXIE
- Check all storage spaces to ensure cleanliness and no dumping
- Assist in safety/emergency drills
- Check and initial all fire extinguishers
Quarterly
- Attend scheduled HVAC inspections
- Replace air filters
- Trim bushes around campus
Twice per year or more frequently if needed
- Monitor and update Safety Board
- Complete required AHERA InspectionDocument in binder in office
- Work with Vice-Principal of Operations to project and calendar major projects/needs for campus
- Planters - replant in August and spring
- Check key boxes and organize/update
· Work closely with principal, vice-principals, faculty, staff, and facilities committee on facility and safety needs in an ongoing, scheduled and regular fashion
· Assist with special events on campus, including outside of normal school hours
· Complete and submit timely reports required, i.e. asbestos report
· Perform other related duties as assigned and needed for the purpose of ensuring the safe, efficient and effective functioning of the school facilities
· Participate on master plan development and implementation when applicable
Yearly
- Supervise fire panel, alarms, extinguishers inspections
- Safety & Emergency suppliesAs needed at direction of Vice-Principal of Operations
- Complete summer facilities needs and requests of staff
**Responsibilities of the Vice-Principal of Operations, Facilities & Maintenance Employee Assists as Directed:**
· Set Facilities Budget
· Schedule Facilities Committee meetings, safety inspections, emergency drills
· Oversee the janitorial service to ensure daily cleaning is occurring to specifications
· Ensure proper operation of all systems within the facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, smoke and fire system, PA system, lighting, and any other related facilities systems
· Coordinate garbage and recycling disposal and pick up
· Order and monitor use of all janitorial supplies
· Communicate long term maintenance and other facilities needs to principal and facilities committee and assist in prioritizing and addressing
· Oversee cost estimates for repairs and contracted services
· Keep current with training, rules and regulations related to maintenance of school facilities, including ongoing Archdiocesan training (but not limited to)
· Ensure compliance with safety requirements of state, federal and Archdiocesan entities, such as monitoring and managing potentially hazardous chemicals on campus.
· Schedule and document timely inspections by outside agencies including insurance, fire department, and other entities needed
