Job Summary:

The Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for a second shift Maintenance Technician located in Seguin, Texas. As a maintenance technician, you will perform the duties associated with the maintenance of facilities and equipment that support the production of Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Maintenance Technicians report to Section Managers and will be assigned to areas within the business to meet customer and company demands.

What you will do:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assembly equipment in production facilities building, in accordance with work orders and technical documentation

  • Respond to service requests and work orders with limited supervision and direction

  • Coordinate the activities, plans, and programs within your area of responsibility and abide by the guidelines of authorized Company policies and procedures

  • Maintain production facilities machinery and equipment using CMMS-generated preventive maintenance worksheets

  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance tasks and minor mechanical repairs to production facilities' equipment

  • Perform general building maintenance such as lamp replacement, simple construction, overhead doors, and plumbing

  • Perform basic electrical preventive maintenance, to motors, lights, and electrical panels with supervision

  • Operate and maintain production and material-handling equipment, including but not limited to fork trucks, conveyors, robotic equipment, and related tools and equipment

  • Lubricate production and material handling equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules

  • Organize lubrication equipment and recommend changes to lubrication schedules

  • Submit tools/requisitions for lubrication equipment to the appropriate supervisor

  • Organize and clean maintenance shop areas

  • Request direction from more senior technicians for unclear or advanced tasks

  • Submit and assist with the resolution of Continuous Improvement Cards

What you will have:

  • Proper use of safety equipment, such as harnesses, electrical safety gloves, glasses, and shields

  • Ability to think critically

  • Proficient communication skills

  • Proficiency in the following:

    • Machining & material handling

    • Robotics

    • LOTO & OSHA Regulations

    • Housekeeping

    • PPE/Safety Practices

    • Hand/Power Tools

    • Mechanical Theory

    • Machine Knowledge

    • HVAC experience

    • Lubrication

What would make you a top candidate:

  • Experience in production facilities assembly and material-handling equipment

  • General understanding of robotics technology and related systems

  • Understand lockout / tag out procedures

  • Experience with basic hand and power tools in an industrial setting

  • Understand mechanical theory, including the construction and operation of bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors

  • Mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment

  • Knowledge of all phases of cutting and welding

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods

  • Ability to perform repetitive operations

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
