Glen-Gery, one of the nation's leading brick manufacturers, is looking for a talented Maintenance Mechanic to join the team at the Marseilles, IL plant location. This person will be responsible for general equipment maintenance and repair as well as diagnosing and remedying simple electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems.

Must show initiative, motivation, and thoroughness to complete assigned tasks. Display a positive attitude and works in an efficient and safe manner.

• Third shift position - 11pm - 7am

Relative Duties

• Assist other maintenance personnel to carry out a preventive maintenance program. This will include routine equipment inspections, regular lubrication, and part replacement.
• General Equipment maintenance and repair
• Diagnoses and remedies simple electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems. Troubleshoot plant equipment and effect repairs. Initiates long-term solutions for improved maintenance of equipment. Which would include actual maintenance of the plant equipment and operational up time.
• Help with instruction, through example, of less experienced personnel.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized workplace. Be accountable for tools used for the job.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrates good working knowledge and abilities of welding and cutting. This includes electrode selection, flat and overhead welding, joint preparation, proper penetration, and safe use of equipment
• Exercises judgement to be able to thoroughly complete a job in a safe, efficient, and professional manner
• Operates lift trucks and other heavy equipment. Uses shop tools and equipment, only after complete training by an authorized instructor
• Show proficiency in the use of hand and small power tools. Knowledge of proper tools for job performed
• Possesses knowledge of the operation of all plant machinery. Willingness to learn and take direction
• Willingness to work irregular shifts and weekends as required
• Can work independently on repairs of assigned area. Can follow written and verbal instruction when performing such repairs. Must keep assigned areas operating at peak performance. Work with machine operators and other maintenance personnel on preventative maintenance
• Demonstrates working knowledge of electrical systems. Troubleshoots and repairs simple electrical circuits
• Demonstrates working knowledge of all plant hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoots and repairs simple hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
• Inspects all plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, and request parts as needed. Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, adjusts, maintains, and lubricates all plant equipment as assigned
• Prepares, installs, maintains, and repairs all types of pipelines, fittings, and fixtures in the plant
• Can lay out, fabricate, assemble, and erect new plant equipment
• Can read and interpret mechanical blueprint and make basic sketches
• Can read and interpret basic electrical schematics and engineering blueprints
• Preparing and submitting maintenance reports

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or plant experience
• Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in industrial maintenance
• Industrial trade school would be helpful
• Must pass maintenance exam
