East West Tea is seeking a talented, passionate, and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team on 2nd and 3rd shifts, to support the operation of machinery within the manufacturing facility, partner with operators for efficiency and safety and assist with the achievement of production goals.

Role Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment used in the production and packaging of East West Tea Company, LLC products. This includes regular inspection of equipment, structures or material, preventative maintenance, and machine repair as required. Technicians possess the necessary mechanical and general maintenance expertise and support production by ensuring smooth operation of the plant and facility. Maintenance technicians follow established work guidelines, procedures, or verbal instructions as well as independently troubleshoot and problem solve unscheduled variances. Adherence to FDA CFR 111 and all company procedures involving health, safety, and food safety while completing work is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN:

Repair/Maintenance

  • Follow prescribed safety rules to operate tools such as power tools and basic hand tools as well as regulations and other departmental policies and procedures. Help to develop proper safety techniques.
  • Perform detailed preventative maintenance as assigned on various equipment, production systems or processes.
  • Diverse maintenance skills to allow for assignments in any work areas as required.
  • Ability to read specifications, work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts.
  • Demonstrates safe, efficient, and thorough work habits, completing all work assignments in a timely and complete manner.
  • Extremely detailed craftsmanship.

Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot, analyze and repair automated production equipment; fix defective parts.

Documentation

  • Maintain all necessary documentation of preventative maintenance & repairs.
  • Timely author concise reports describing work performed, i.e. troubleshooting, repairing, sanitizing, adjusting, calibrating and changing parts or other activities related to production equipment.

WHAT YOU KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED:

  • 3-5 years’ general mechanical experience
  • Experience with low pressure, pneumatic & associated controls.
  • Knowledge and use of fine measuring instruments, be able to work down to .01mm (.0005).
  • Basic knowledge of the metric system.
  • Food, Beverage or Dietary Supplement experience preferred but not required
  • Practices in mechanical maintenance and repair & knowledge of electrical components with 24vdc-120-240vac single and three phase power sources.
  • General understanding of programmable controllers (PLCs)
  • Familiarity with warehouse environment exposure which includes noise, dust, forklifts, and fluctuations in temperature.
  • Exposure to sounds and noise levels that would be distracting or uncomfortable
  • Exposure to fine dust from organic raw materials
  • Working in cramped spaces and awkward positions
  • Work on production shifts, for 8-12 hour periods, including swing and or graveyard.
