Must possess and maintain a valid State of MN Chief C boiler license.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience with verifiable past performance in successful diagnostic repairs and maintenance of:

Carpentry

Painting
-
Door and Basic Lock Repair / Replacement

Window Hardware and Window / Screen Repair / Replacement

Tile / Carpet / Wood Flooring Repair and Installation
-
Sheetrock Repair and Installation
-
Locker Repair and Installation
-
Roof Leak Repair
-
Electrical Component Troubleshooting and Repair
-
Pipe Insulation
-
Basic Plumbing
-
Swimming Pools
-
Boilers and Pumps
-
Knowledge of Fire and Alarm Panels
-
A thorough knowledge on the use of hand and power tools
-
Must possess or obtain and maintain a Certified Pool Operator license prior to completion of probationary period.

Must possess or obtain and maintain a MN Registered Unlicensed Electrician license prior to completion of probationary period.
-
Excellent physical condition with no restrictions, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must meet requirements of MN. Health and Safety regulations regarding work in confined spaces.

Must be trained and fitted, for work in areas requiring use of respirators within the probationary period.
-
Must be trained in lock-out/tag-out procedures.
-
Ability to work on call and after normal hours as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Supervisor.

Ability to work with people of all ages, ethnicities, genders and to accept and give work directions in a diverse school district.

Knowledge of district maintenance methods and procedures which indicates the capability of instructing subordinates in the proper use of district methods and procedures.

RESPONSIBLE FOR GENERAL BUILDING REPAIR. This would include but is not limited to: Proper maintenance and operation of door locks, cabinet locks, window latches, hinges, handles, furniture repair, security switches and systems, domestic hot water system, sprinkler system (fire protection), roof leaks, heat tape, gutters, coolers and freezers, lockers, coat racks and door closers.

MAINTAINS A WORKING AWARENESS OF SAFETY PROCEDURES AND METHODS OF THE FOLLOWING: Bloodborne Pathogens: attend annual mandatory training to maintain ability to protect your person from the hazards associated with bloodborne pathogens. Minnesota Right to Know: attend an annual mandatory training session to maintain the ability and awareness of proper chemical usage and labeling and the handling of hazardous materials, i.e.: spent ballast, fluorescent bulbs, corrosive boiler chemicals, etc. Ability to work within health and safety procedures including, Lock Out/Tag Out, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space and Asbestos Surveillance. Assisting in safety drills such as but not limited to fire drills and hazardous weather drills.

KNOWLEDGE OF AND MAINTENANCE OF VARIOUS TECHNICAL MANUALS AND LOGS. This would include but is not limited to: Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Manuals, Asbestos Management Plan Manual, Boiler Room Log, Boiler Chemical Log, Emergency Light Maintenance Log, Air Filter Log, Lubrication Log, Fuel Oil Log and Fire Extinguisher Inspection tags.

CONSULT WITH VARIOUS BUILDING AND/OR DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: capital expenditures to maintain building, recommend operational and equipment purchases, monitor work of contractors and/or vendors/suppliers to ensure work is performed and that supplies are delivered, make sure that starting times and/or completion deadlines are met.

MAINTAINS AN OPERATIONAL INVENTORY OF PARTS AND SUPPLIES. For operational needs – orders parts and chemicals as necessary, as well as maintaining a basic hardware and tool inventory so as to perform daily maintenance.

WILLING TO RECEIVE CONTINUING TRAINING ON NEW AND BEST PRACTICES RELATED TO THE CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF GENERAL BUILDING REPAIR.

Responsible for building security, on call evenings and weekends.

Willing to work overtime when needed.
-
Work with outside contractors when they are in the building.
-
Attend mandatory meetings as called by the Facilities and Operations Office.

Ability to advise building engineers on operation of all equipment and systems and point out problems that you are aware of or have corrected so that person has the knowledge of the building and can successfully and efficiently operate the building.
