The Manager of Accounting is responsible for providing financial and administrative support to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations for the company. This individual oversees the day-to-day processing of all transactions to ensure that company finances are maintained in an effective and timely manner; processes periodic accounting reporting; analyzes daily business system transactions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles; and provides administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient department operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day- to-day general ledger accounting and reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis
  • Work with the team to ensure that AP, cash collections and payments are completed in a timely manner and properly reconciled to the general ledger; and early identification and resolution of potential issues
  • Monitor and analyze the activities of the team to develop more efficient procedures, use of resources, and adherence to deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Prepare daily cash report, Accounts Payable and Receivable KPI report
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures
  • Reconcile and report Intercompany balances
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor bank activity, recording necessary journal entries
  • Manage payroll journal entries
  • Assist in resolving any escalated issues
  • Take part in yearly audit preparation and actions
  • Assist with corporate tax filings (Property, & Sales/Use Taxes)
  • Work with Information Technology (IT) team on system enhancement assessment, testing or resolution of production issues
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from Senior Management in a timely manner
  • Participate in special projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience in a related field
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar role
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Management role
  • Basic knowledge of budgetary process
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Experience in Business, Managing Processes, Financial Planning and Strategy, Accounting, Legal Compliance, Corporate Finance, and Tracking Job Costs
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting structure, policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
  • Proficient PC skills and a working knowledge of ERP and Accounting software systems
  • Proficient use of MS Office including Excel and Access
