We are seeking an experienced Affordable Housing Manager to oversee our affordable housing program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with affordable housing regulations, managing affordable housing projects, and developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

Oversee the affordable housing program and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

Manage the leasing and renewal process including reviewing applications, recertifications and processing leases.

Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new residents and maintain high occupancy levels.

Work with property operations teams to resolve any maintenance issues.

Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure fair housing practices are followed.

Monitor program performance and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.

Stay up to date with changes in affordable housing regulations and programs.

Maintain the highest level of customer service for residents, vendors, and corporate departments.

Identify and escalate trends, causes of delinquency, and provide resolution insights.

Ensure systems are kept up to date and accurate for reporting purposes.

Assist with other ad hoc requests and reports as needed.

Manage staff and oversee their training and development.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required. 5-7 years of experience in affordable housing program management.

Knowledge of all affordable housing programs and regulations.

Ability to manage staff and work collaboratively within a team.

Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
Please note that while this role is remote, we do require candidates to live locally to our San Mateo or Irvine, CA offices

The salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $128,000.00 per year. New hires generally start between $85,000.00 - $107,000.00 per year. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
This role is also eligible to participate in Essex’s discretionary Annual Bonus program that is commensurate with the level of the position.
