Position SummaryManager Business Development will develop and oversee the organization's long-range business development initiatives to ensure the best use of resources in pursuing growth and profitability objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop strategies to identify and respond to business development opportunities, which may include internal or external expansion projects.
- Lead new business analysis and integration through the active pursuit and targeting of suitable strategic opportunities and demonstrate potential to add value to the overall business.
- Collaborate with members of the Executive Team to evaluate new business and market opportunities.
- Conduct market research and develop strategies to enhance future growth.
- Articulate ongoing market dynamics and strategies, within the technical and new business arena, in order to identify challenges and opportunities.
- Perform related work as required.
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Working on-call, nights and weekends may occasionally be required on an as-needed basis. Travel may be necessary depending on assigned duties. Up to 50% travel within the US and Canada to visit Westmoreland sites and other locations along with overseas travel as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong technical background in addition to experience in the business development function.
- Minimum 10 years of related work experience in the mining/extractive industries.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
