Role Summary

The Manager, Finance is responsible for executing on the strategy for financial analysis activities for Alaska Air Group (AAG). As a people leader, the Manager, Finance leads and establishes priorities for the team around financial modeling, analytics, business support, and execution with respect to financial statements, ROIC, fleet planning, capital structure, capital spending, cash forecasting, fuel hedging, financing, dividend, share repurchase, credit/financial metrics, and other Treasury matters.

Key Duties

  • Manages and owns financial modeling, analytics, business support, and execution with respect to financial statements, ROIC, fleet planning, capital structure, capital spending, cash forecasting, fuel hedging, financing, dividend, share repurchase, credit/financial metrics, and other Treasury matters.
  • Works on and manages executive and board level projects and presentations.
  • Partners with the Treasury staff on the evaluation and execution of strategic financing and fleet projects, including aircraft financing, credit facilities, fleet planning, aircraft purchase contracts, sales, leasing, subleasing, and returns.
  • Uses an analytical mindset and critical thinking skills to identify and analyze opportunities, proactively lead discussions, make recommendations, and execute solutions for department initiatives and projects.
  • Owns and leads the company’s fuel and interest rate hedge strategies and drives all aspects of execution.
  • Manages projects and collaborates with other departments, including FP&A, network, financial reporting, and maintenance.
  • Builds relationships with external banking relationships, capital providers and rating agencies.
  • Participates in a shared knowledge work environment, coaching others and building the team’s overall skills.
  • Develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback.
  • Fosters a culture of engagement, holds self and others accountable through trust and authentic relationships.
  • Promotes a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct/indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and by providing regular and meaningful feedback.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in finance, including modeling experience or related area.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Extensive experience with financial modeling and presenting results and recommendations in visual, story-based format.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and breakdown complex data/ideas into key drivers for decision making.
  • Ability to lead, build, and develop teams through formal and informal feedback.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships, instruct and coach employees, and drive for results.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and build productive relationships across divisions.
  • Organized/detail-oriented and works as a team player across divisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Direct treasury experience.
  • Bloomberg experience.
  • A Master of Arts/Science degree or a Master of Business Administration degree.
