Responsibilities:
The purpose of the position of the Manager of Materials Management is to establish and implement the procedure for structuring the organization, responsibilities, titles and duties of all purchasing personnel. The scope of the responsibilities for the Manager of Materials Management include: 1) provide job descriptions for all purchasing department personnel; 2) monitor and evaluate adherence of all purchasing department personnel to the clinic’s vision, mission and values; 3) evaluate, monitor and direct the duties and performance of the purchasing department personnel; 4) create, implement and monitor/evaluate all policies and procedures related to the procurement and distribution of all supplies, equipment and services for the clinic. The primary function of the Director of Materials Management is to execute, in an exemplary manner, the management of acceptable business practices in the performance of day to day procurement and distribution activities clinic-wide, supporting clinic objectives by contract compliance, cost savings, and efficiencies while instilling the clinic’s vision, mission and values into all clinic personnel. The secondary function is to collaborate with SLEHS Purchasing Department to work together on contracts that combine purchase volumes whenever possible.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree

CPM or equivalent.

Experience

A.

3-5 Years in Supply Chain Management and Operations

B.

Five years experience in multi-specialties, multi-location clinics or hospital operations procurement of supplies, equipment and services.

Special Skills

A.
Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and re-evaluate programs in reference to efficiency, risk management and cost-effectiveness as part of the managed care environment.

Advanced knowledge of Excel and Database program a plus.

Demonstrated ability to work with others and set goals. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
B.
Five years direct management of a medical (hospital or clinic) purchasing department. Management of a medical supply distributor. Experience in developing formal policies and procedures.
