Job Summary:
The position will report directly to the Vice Provost of Graduate and Professional Studies. The GPS Manager of Learning and Development will ensure the successful development of program knowledge, policies, procedures, skills and attributes required for all members of the PLNU Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) Enrollment & Student Services teams. The GPS Manager of Learning and Development will develop and implement training programs for new staff members onboarding as well as providing continued enrichment training and support for current staff based on Bloom's Taxonomies and Adult Learning Theory.
This position will utilize various training modalities to enhance learning outcomes that support university growth while ensuring compliance with university policy. In partnership with GPS Leadership, the Manager of Learning and Development is responsible for guiding, motivating, instilling best practices, and assuring accountability and high performance among the PLNU Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) Enrollment and Student Services teams.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Performance Management
-
Guide and motivate team members to achieve goals, assuring accountability and high performance in a thriving Learning Culture.

Maintain a positive, motivating work environment and culture by seeking out and listening to team members’ feedback, communicating that feedback to GPS Leadership.
-
Help identify training needs and best practices among the GPS teams, and assist with implementation of performance improvement programs; Work closely with the GPS leadership team to assess and identify training needs as well as develop their team members through career pathing (i.e. Growth Mindset).

Implement various learning methods in GPS (i.e. coaching, job-shadowing, online training); Provide 1x1 training and coaching to enhance effectiveness within enrollment and student services roles including leadership coaching.

Monitor team performance and individual metrics to assure ongoing alignment with team goals and KPIs for Enrollment Counselors, Admission Counselors, Tele-Counselors, Student Success Counselors, Military Advisors and One-Stop Student Financial Counselors.

Manage the ongoing development of all team members according to the Enrichment Program.

Manage the ongoing development of leadership and extended leadership in accordance to the GPS Leadership Competency Model.

Collaborate with all GPS departments to ensure cohesive knowledge of systems, policy and procedures, and role specific expectations.

Partner with Academic Deans on new program launch knowledge and training. Lead training with appropriate departments.

Partner with PLNU’s Assistant Director of Training and Development in Human Resources department to ensure GPS training programs are meeting university standards.

Achieve KPIs set by the Vice Provost of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Development & Delivery

Conduct needs assessments for GPS division, develop recommendations, and implement solutions that drive improved employee productivity.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage the Recognition Program.

Lead the Train the Trainer Program.

Manage the Professional Development Canvas course.

Responsible for leading the three-day annual Summit with theme, workshops, guest speakers and focus for the year.

Strong knowledge of industry standards and best practices and align training to ensure we exceed standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree, preferred.
-
Two to three years related higher education experience required. Three to five years’ experience in higher education, preferred.
-
Prior training experience, preferred.
-
Prior experience within a variety of higher education roles, preferred.
-
Knowledge of adult learning theory, preferred.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Demonstrates great attention to detail and follow through.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
-
Proven ability to plan and facilitate interactive training curriculum, workshops, and webinars.
-
Proficiency in trainer facilitation skills, job aid creation, and employee retention.

Competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, and Customer Relationship Management System(s).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Ability to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs throughout the day.
