Astrobotic’s Landers & Spacecraft division is a collaborative working environment where each member of the team has a high degree of freedom, responsibility, and expectations. The company has received more than 50 NASA and commercial technology contracts in autonomous precision landing, mobile robotics, GPS-denied navigation and mapping, multi-rover exploration and planning, lunar cave exploration, planetary drones, and high-performance computing.
The Manager of the Program Office oversees the coordination of scope, schedule, budget, and resources for the full range of current technical programs, new business proposals, and research and development activities within the Landers & Spacecraft department. They lead, manage, and develop the department’s team of project engineers and program managers, and are responsible for assigning those resources to the various ongoing programs. They will be expected and encouraged to develop best practices for program management in the department as it continues to grow and evolve. This position reports to the Director of Landers and Spacecraft.
Responsibilities:

  • 5-10 years of experience in the following Departmental & Program responsibilities:
  • Departmental
  • Supporting the Director of Landers and Spacecraft in developing the department’s best practices and products.
  • Lead and assign work to the Landers and Spacecraft project team within a matrixed organization.
  • Develop and mature the Program office in terms of processes, training, scope/schedule development and cost analysis, incorporating best practices for development programs.
  • Develop and manage departmental integrated master schedule, resourcing and assist in overall departmental budget planning.
  • Conduct interviews and hire and train new staff.
  • Administer personnel actions such as timecards, performance reviews, promotions, corrective action, merit planning, etc.
  • Coach performance, create training and development plans, and provide feedback to individuals and teams
  • Motivate others to deliver products consistently, on time, and on budget.
  • Program
  • Monitor the progress of all projects, working closely with the functional teams during all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Ensure statements of work, program staffing plans, and new business activities are supported by the project/program team.
  • Manage payload activities for new programs from within the project group.
  • Contribute to product design and establishment of requirements.
  • Support the establishment and management of key technical and supplier relationships.
  • Support the planning, preparation, delivery, and closeout of program milestone reviews.
  • Ensure deliverables meet company standards.
  • Support program life cycle planning and execution.
  • Coordinate partnership of engineering support with the mission team.
  • Manage projects which are in development or not mission specific.
  • Coordinate research and development projects with the engineering team in support of future mission development.
  • Support the development of technical proposals for mission opportunities.
  • Support technical teams in the development of new technical products and services.
  • Coordinate with Business Development on new business opportunities.
