SUMMARY
The purpose of the Manager on Duty (MOD) position is to assist in the management of the program/floors of the ICC in order to ensure compliance and adherence to all Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Licensing and Agency standards. The MOD position is critical in ensuring client safety and quality services are delivered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Oversee, coordinate and support the Shelter Care Specialist(s), to ensure proper staff coverage, proper youth care, documentation, maintenance of facilities structures, and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) licensing standards.
Must maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, unless otherwise specified by the program’s Sr. Vice President.
Follow protocol as it relates to ensuring client safety including the use of de-escalation techniques and adherence to the behavior management / clinical model.
Follow protocol as it relates to the oversight, monitoring and reporting of physical holds.
Assist with the development, implementation and review of all plans for all youth according to the principles of the behavior management / clinical model and good social work practice.
Ensure staff monitor and supervise youth’s behaviors and whereabouts at all times, including outside of the shelter on activity.
Maintain a positive relationship with the various departments within and external to the program, including with DCFS monitor and licensing liaison.
Evaluate, identify and respond to, in a timely manner, the training needs of the program. Provide all forms of training, consultation, evaluation, direction and role modeling to staff in order to enhance and develop programming.
Coordinate the transportation of clients to various appointments.
Transport clients to school, appointments, recreation activities, and other locations in agency van or personal vehicle. The staff must have DCFS driver’s clearance to transport any of the clients.
Ensure and assist in the timely and accurate admissions and discharge process of clients while on duty.
Ensure the facility is maintained according to all safety standards including the submission of Maintenance Requests as appropriate.
Completes all daily reports regarding client to staff assignments and activities.
Assists in the coordination of client related appointments.
Ensure incident reports / significant events are completed in a timely manner as appropriate.
Responsible for the dissemination of petty cash for client related activities and submit appropriate reimbursement documentation (i.e. receipts) in a timely manner to the Sr. Vice President, or designee.
Fully and professional respond to and implement directives, constructive feedback and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel, as well as professionally offered feedback from co-workers.
Ensures compliance with agency personnel file.
Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
WORK HOURS
Willing to work outside the assigned full-time or part-time shift (3pm-11pm) with weekend availability in the event of an emergency or shortage as assigned by Supervisor. Report to all scheduled work sites on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities.
If qualified, willing to cover job responsibilities of co-workers in the event of an emergency or shortage as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s degree preferred. Must have two years of experience working with children in an institutional, residential group home, or shelter setting. Two years of previous management experience is preferred.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current driver’s license
Current auto insurance
The ability to critically think, work well under stress and work well in crisis-oriented situations.
The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
