JOB DESCRIPTION: MANAGER PROPERTY & SALES TAX
The key responsibility of this position is to manage the sales tax and property tax functions of 700+ restaurants across the U.S. and Canada. Save state and local tax dollars while minimizing risk for the company through planning and audit activities. Keep abreast of changing tax laws and issues relative to the restaurant industry to ensure compliance with tax laws.

Keep abreast of changing tax laws and issues relative to the restaurant industry to ensure compliance with tax laws.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the processes of sales tax and planning functions according to established procedures and regulatory requirements, coordinating related compliance functions with internal staff and external co-sourcing partners.
- Serve as tax advisor to other departments to ensure tax implications are addressed accurately and timely
- Oversee collection, review, and remittance of collected guest sales, food, and beverages taxes. Monitor change in tax rates to ensure timely updates of tax rates to the point-of-sale system
- Oversee accrual of use tax; review tax laws and make tax determinations on purchases
- Manage the property tax cycle including the review of personal property renditions/returns, management of assessment appeals, and the timely payment of all property tax liabilities
- Perform tax research and analyze and interpret existing and proposed tax regulations and legislation
- Manage the accounting of tax accounts including assessing and quantifying the need for tax reserves, ensuring monthly balances are accurately stated, and appropriate controls are in followed. Keep management informed of expected changes to annual expense
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
- 5-8 years tax experience, emphasis in multi-state indirect taxes
- 3+ years in a supervisory/management capacity
- Knowledge of tax preparation and research software
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- CPA Certificate
OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in efficient manner
- Proven leadership abilities
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Knowledge of tax research software
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Masters of Tax or Accounting
