Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) applies software and systems engineering techniques and discipline to build and run highly scalable, highly available, globally distributed systems and services. Our focus is on adding nines to our already well-engineered and highly reliable software products supporting job seekers, employers, and internal customers.
In this role you will be managing a team of SREs within the Platforms organization to guide them in maximizing feature velocity while achieving high availability, performance, and correctness goals. This team is responsible for supporting the Client Success, Finance and Sales departments. Our work integrates with several teams across Indeed and requires highly technical, innovative, flexible thinkers with excellent communication and passion for delivering the best experience to help people get jobs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 3-5 Engineers within the Business Platforms global organization.
- Own availability and performance of Indeed’s most critical systems
- Lead a team of Engineers who design, write, ship, and motivate the creation of software and systems to increase reliability and organizational efficiency
- Expand the team by hiring the best engineers
- Help engineers develop their careers through personal and performance management
- Foster an environment of continuous learning which builds excellent engineering skill sets Maintain service health through monitoring and follow-the-sun incident response
- Improve service reliability through blameless post-incident reviews and using code to prevent or respond to problem recurrence
Who You Are
Requirements:
- Experience writing code in Java, C#, Go, Perl, Python, or a similar software language.
- Experience managing a team of software, SRE, and/or system engineers.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong interest in SRE topics like SLOs, resilience, scaling, performance, and more

- Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, and software design and/or Linux, networking, application performance analysis.
- Experience designing, writing, and/or troubleshooting software and systems in a distributed, internet-scale Linux environment.
- Experience recruiting and hiring software and/or system engineers.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
