The World Surf League connects millions of fans across the globe to live competition and surf related content through our own and operated website and apps. WSL is looking for a driven, talented and creative Social Media Manager to help ideate, develop, produce, edit and execute a range of engaging social media strategies. A passion for social content creation, storytelling and organizational skills are a must. The ideal candidate should be creative and ambitious with a passion for all social media platforms. This role will work within a highly collaborative environment that allows for the ability to ideate and influence social media decisions.

Based on business priorities and event locations (and timezones), the successful candidate can be based in either Los Angeles, California, or Australia.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Create, conceptualize, plan and execute social media content for the day-to-day posting across all WSL owned social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, including but not limited to: Live events, reactive content, Branded Content and trends.
• Support execution of the content calendar.
• Ideate and prepare copy recommendations in-line with the social voice of our accounts.
• Support the goal setting, reporting and benchmarking of social strategies helping to build reports and best practice insights.
• Monitor posts on all WSL social media platforms to ensure responses and engagement.
• Assist and collaborate with athletes, creators and influencers in content creation.
• Monitor news and social media to identify what is trending in sports and relevant culture and new platform features etc.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of social media experience - media, brand or sports experience highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of social media platform best practices and active daily use of Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook.
• Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple projects and priorities and manage internal deadlines.
• Expert knowledge of surfing and surfing lifestyle
• Must be passionate about current trends, memes, viral content and popular culture.
• Experience editing videos to tight deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively, open to change and new ideas
• Excellent writer, with proven copywriting experience
• Experience with social media reporting and KPIs
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours- particularly aligned to various timezones of our live events.
• Global Cultural Awareness
• Possess excellent communications skills that allow for highly productive workflows between the Content, Marcomms, Broadcast, and Partnership departments
• Active and passionate about social media: it's not just something you know, but an integral part of your daily life
• Previous professional experience managing social media accounts
• Must have proficiency in both Adobe Photoshop and Premiere
• Fluent in a language other than English- a plus
