Bell in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Manager, V-280 Tooling. In this role, you will have a detailed knowledge of tool design, tool manufacturing and Bell processes. You are accountable for the management and direction of V-280 Tooling with the goal of achieving optimum tooling efficiencies for manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage the V-280 Tooling department’s functional and technical support activities, and ensure conformance to assigned departmental and operational budgets

  • Ensure the efficient operation of all tooling design and tool fabrication processes within the V-280 Program and adherence to operational budgets and schedule. Facilitate the flow of timely, accurate tooling data between ME&T, Operations and Procurement

  • Manage the continuous development and training of employees on effective and efficient job skills and tooling manufacturing technologies

  • Manage the troubleshooting and corrective action for tooling issues and work stoppages

  • Manage Continuous Improvement in tool design and tool manufacturing projects

  • Coordinate tool research projects, automation assembly trade studies and producibility studies for machined parts, composite parts, and aircraft assembly

  • Conduct in-house and supplier audits of tools and maintain records as required by FAR

  • Administrator for tool holding agreement and government tool accountability as required by FAR

  • Directs the development of tooling plans that define the intended end products; clearly communicates deliverables and establishes common baselines for program execution by functional Manufacturing Engineering/IPT organizations

  • Ensure on-time, cost effective delivery of tool designs, tooling and equipment required to optimize product fabrication within allocated budgets

  • Direct the coordination between Bell IO departments to ensure deliverables are worked and completed per schedule requirements

  • Manages all outsource tooling efforts for accountability, status, delivery and receipt

  • Coordinate program cost and schedule issues with V-280 Build Team Manager, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Managers, Program Management, Program Controls and Finance

  • Coordinate the purchase and delivery of outsourced tool design and tool fabrication with Procurement management and outsource tooling suppliers

  • The incumbent will assure that he/she and all employees supervised in his/her organization understand and comply with the company's code of business ethics and diversity programs

  • The incumbent will assure that all affected employees in his/her organization are given performance objectives and that accomplishment of these objectives are appraised equitably while providing timely feedback, development, and mentoring opportunities

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology OR at least 5 years of experience in tooling may be considered equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

Position Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in tooling / project management in aerospace.

  • Must have detailed knowledge of tool design / tool manufacturing

  • Ability to motivate and direct others and be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Must be able to direct multiple program IPT tooling requirements and demonstrate exemplary attitude and conduct with respect to attendance, job assignments and support of all company efforts.

  • Organizational leadership ability and a detailed knowledge of tooling procedures and aerospace manufacturing technologies to include but not all of the following items:

    • rotor blade details and assemblies, detail gears and gear box assemblies, composite part manufacturing, airframe assembly, automation, inspection techniques, composite or assembly tooling, drilling & trimming, quality control principles, Six Sigma Process, engineering model processes (CATIA and/or 3DX), process specifications, material handling, project management, knowledge of company procedures, project planning and implementation process, and departmental planning/budgeting/staffing.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior supervisory experience in an aerospace tooling or manufacturing engineering position (coaching, mentoring, developing, etc.)
