Business Need / Purpose of Role:

Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Technologist Supervisor, plan and lay-out a wide range of CNC Fixtures to accurately convey how parts are held, made and Tooling required in a shop environment to construct, alter and repair pump components.

Objectives & Measurement:

• Use Solidworks to design 3D Fixture Models
• Convert 2D drawings into 3D Solidworks Models
• Design new Fixtures needed to meet Production needs
• Provide detailed Solidwork Drawings
• Revise existing Fixtures to match current Manufacturing practices
• Interact with Programmers and Machinists on a daily basis to gather all of the correct information for each part to decrease future Setup times dramatically
• Achieve weekly and monthly design goals
• Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
• Interact with Machinists and Programmers daily to learn and document Production Fixture needs for accurate Machinability while decreasing Setup and Cycle Times
• Model missing Fixtures based on Setup Sheets and/or 2D drawings for future manufacturing needs
• Pull new Fixture Part Numbers and revise existing Fixtures based off Setup Sheets and current Machining practices
• Maintain strict document control by archiving old revisions levels and keeping only the current revisions active for the Machinists to obtain
• Communicate with supervisors, Programmers, and Machinists on proper fixturing, fixturing needs to improve Setup and Run Times, and Tooling requirements
• Detect and report faulty operation, defective material and equipment, and other unusual conditions to the proper Supervisor or Leadman
• Maintain the workplace in a neat and orderly condition
• Complete time and production reports or enter the prescribed information into a designated data input terminal
• Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Knowledge of CNC Machining preferred.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of CNC Tooling as related to the machining of different Materials.
• Ability to read and understand Engineering Drawings, Tolerances, and technical specifications.

Language:

Ability to read, write and communicate written instructions clearly. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism

(formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Solidworks, PDM and Microsoft Excel.

Physical Requirements:

The work may require considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of heavy objects < 50 pounds. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, moving equipment (i.e. forklifts, overhead cranes), rotating equipment or machines. Routine use of personal protective equipment is required and adherence to all safety precautions.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
