Job Summary

Schedules and monitors manufacturing machines to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Examines equipment capacity/capability and finishing requirements to create an efficient, cost effective schedule that results in on-time delivery.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Schedules all production work into available machine times considering machine capabilities, volume and production specifications.
• Enter production stats from previous day into system.
• Reviews system daily to capture data from manufacturing in order to finalize production schedule.
• Coordinates equipment schedules to meet production demands and customer delivery requirements.
• Communicates current order status and machine time availability to customer service, management, and sales.
• Coordinates workflow for overloads or too little work. Notify manufacturing departments to flex labor as necessary.
• Coordinates and adjusts schedules for preventative maintenance, overhauls, and inspections.
• Conducts daily scheduling meeting to develop accurate and timely scheduling of jobs.
• Coordinate raw materials needed to produce jobs (cartons, pallets, paper, ink, etc). before finalizing schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

• This position requires the incumbent to regularly utilize written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
• This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged sitting and to regularly stand, walk, carry, climb stairs, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs.
• This position requires the incumbent to grasp objects utilizing manual dexterity including hand/finger coordination and the utilization of color vision.
• Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. 21% to 50% of work time.

• High School Diploma or equivalent. May include specialized classes beyond high school.
• Has proficient understanding of principles in one or more functions. Typically possesses 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 3 years scheduling experience.
• Performs professional level work. Develops solutions requiring analysis and research. Responsible for critical work and/or complex projects performed within a broader technical and business context.
• Extensive knowledge of printing and production.
• Strong PC skills including Office Software packages and the Internet.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and numerical data.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and employees. Ability to write general business correspondence.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
