Job Title: VP of Operations

Department: Operations

Reports To: Group President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Responsible for the daily operations of the Marmon Construction Fasteners Group, including managing the systems and processes to ensure consistently across the group. Will work cross-functioanally with Sales, Engineering, Finance and Marketing. Business acumen, as well as manufacturing required for this role. This role will be over plants for a specific division of Marmon – www.atlasfastners.com.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Defines, implements, and communicates the strategic direction and operational policies for the group operations.
  • Analyzes data and metrics to optimize business workflows. Develops processes, systems, and productivity metrics to ensure the plants are hitting their performance targets. Incorporates early detection and identification into the process to ensure timely actions are taken.
  • Leads teams through change management and continuous improvement processes which includes U.S., Canada, and China locations.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Drives a quality culture. Implements a quality plan ensuring quality is built into every process. Establish high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Collaborates across all functions including sales and customer service to ensure quality and consistency within the group to carry out and meet the organization’s goal and objectives.
  • Partner closely with our sales, marketing, finance and operations leaders and their teams, serving as a subject matter expert in operations to monitor the process from sales order through to delivery to the customer.
  • Drives customer- focused culture, minimizing back orders, increasing fill rates and on-time deliveries of quality products.
  • Develops employees with the purpose of increasing production and job satisfaction by setting team and individual goals, providing feedback to team members, and providing training to achieve the company goals and objectives.
  • Supports and maintains continuous lean manufacturing programs and workplace tools, including visual management, 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing education.
  • Reduces costs in manufacturing. Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements.
  • Manages operations to meet critical KPI’s. Manage dashboards and provides the leadership team relevant insight and recommended actions.
  • Oversees raw material and supply purchases required to meet business needs.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures to drive safety, a stable and steady workforce, ensure that all employees follow the policies.
  • Provides oversight and takes responsibility for the 3PL distribution locations.
  • Develops and executes on new growth directives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in operations management in a manufacturing environment required
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience required
  • Management experience required
  • International experience preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises a team of plant managers and branch managers. Is responsible for the overall strategic planning, coordination, and execution of the operations function within the Construction Fastener Group. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and performance managing the employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

  • Must be able to live or reside most of the month in Ashland, Ohio.
  • Must be able to travel 30% annually

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
