Under general direction, the Market Development Manager (MDM) for Utility Programs plays a key role in achieving Generac Grid Services (GGS) goals and objectives, including developing strategies and new programs that provide new revenue generation opportunities with utilities and other energy industry partners. Program development will be focused on innovating ways to use assets, such as solar & storage, as a grid resource for utilities. The MDM will support GGS cross-functional teams to prepare differentiated responses to utility requests for proposal (RFPs) by bringing insights and ideas on incentive structures, end customer outreach strategies, market development partnerships, and more. Once a GGS proposal has been selected, the MDM will also bring together a cross-functional team of Generac and external resources to support and launch the new GGS program. The MDM will also actively seek out new business opportunities and innovative partnerships that complement and expand GGS’s value proposition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies and tests innovative business models designed to expand market opportunities, including the development of new partnerships in support of these models.
Develops and grows relationships with partners, including collaborative efforts to pursue new joint opportunities.
Organizes and leads cross-functional teams of Generac and external personnel to meet performance objectives.
Leads development of virtual power plants (e.g., energy storage capacity) and grows related revenue in support of utility and related programs.
Collaborates with Generac sales and marketing teams to develop regional marketing plans in support of utility and related programs
Negotiates and closes contracts.
Supports GGS Sales in developing proposals in response
Develops utility and related program metrics for effective sales forecasting and resource allocation.
Supports Generac Clean Energy Solutions’ relationships with renewable energy distributors and installers that are helping GGS build capacity for our utility customers.
Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA degree a plus
3-5 years of sales, business development, finance, or partnership development experience in the energy industry.
Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with solar + storage projects and/or utility programs Significant established relationships in assigned industry 5 years of matrix or cross-functional leadership experience in Sales

Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Compenstion: Generac Grid Services is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Denver, Colorado is $103,700 - $129,600 USD. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term incentives that may consist of the following: annual incentive plan, sales incentive plan, sign-on bonus, and equity grants depending on the role and level.
