Responsibilities

Location and travel requirements may vary per role. Applications to these opportunities are considered for all available Marketing roles, including but not limited to, those described below:

Product Marketing
Defines and directs business and market strategies for driving customer value, growth and retention aligned to product vision. Serves as the Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) accountable for product revenue and key priorities, leading across the matrix. Identifies opportunities and defines marketing strategies for thought leadership, customer acquisition, adoption & renewal.

Responsibilities:
  • Begins to compile and evaluate market intelligence and customer data to identify opportunities and define strategies for customer acquisition, adoption, and renewal of a product and/or solution; uses insights to story tell. Engages with customers, partners, and the field to understand customer needs and identify investment priorities. Partners with Software Engineers to analyze customer needs and market user research to help shape recommendations for the product roadmap. Learns to define the long-term vision and strategy for a product and/or solution based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals and strategy. Creates or updates customer messages to buy, retain, and grow; creates customer messaging and authors and contributes to marketing asset creation within customer teams.
  • Helps others identify and direct marketing strategies for customer acquisition, adoption, customer advocacy, and renewal of a product and/or solution. Collaborates with others to identify target customers and define and execute the strategy for the end-to-end customer journey. Develops an engagement plan to interact with customers via various channels under supervision.
  • Helps deliver sales enablement and field support.

Events

Understands and translates business requirements, goals, and objectives into emotionally connecting experiences for specific audience groups. Holds responsibility for the end-to-end execution of Microsoft (and 3rd party) events and experiences, in alignment with the overall marketing strategy.

Responsibilities:
  • Aligns events and experience programs to overall strategy and guidelines.
  • Implements an event brief and executes stakeholders' vision for an existing event in partnership with senior team members. Works closely with team members, shared services, production personnel, and agencies to realize the event's design and objectives.
  • Begins to build relationships with key stakeholders. Initiates communication with core internal and/or cross-functional marketing teams.

Partner Marketing

Plans and oversees partner-centered learning across solutions/lines of business. Creates and drives solutions strategies/content roadmaps (e.g., product, enablement, recruit, incentives/investments) with long-term partner leads and internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts partner-centered learning by evaluating internal and external data and reports and through discussions with partners. Synthesizes and consolidates information gathered from research in order to help others inform and design partner strategy and gain competitive insights.
  • Executes marketing strategies to ensure market readiness for new solution/offering launch.
  • Executes and localizes multiple components of a function or engine related to partner experiences (e.g., digital marketing, visual merchandising, partner events, lead sharing, and demos) by leveraging marketing assets and through the assistance of other teams.

Channel Marketing

Develops marketing strategies and programs to drive awareness and create demand for Microsoft products through partners to contribute to sell-through and meet overall business objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts partner/consumer-centered insights and learning by evaluating internal and external data and reports and through discussions with partners/consumers.
  • Executes product/campaign strategies with partners and one or multiple internal teams based on research and comprehensive understanding of the partner’s financials and strategic priorities, as well as business, industry, and competitive landscapes.
  • Uses and helps develop materials and collateral to promote the product and support the campaign. Executes product/campaign launches in collaboration with internal support and specialist teams to sell through customers/partners.

Category
Management

Develops, designs, and manages go-to-market strategies, and lands strategy to enable sales within region(s). Owns full accountability for profit and loss and business operations within one or more product/service categories.

Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to business operations within a portion of a category and/or region, providing product expertise (e.g., market, audience, technical features) for a single line of business to internal teams (e.g., sales and marketing teams), partners, and/or customers.
  • Contributes to the development of global priorities and initiatives, and disseminates global guidance and prioritizations within a category. Champions the voice of the region to the business group by gathering feedback and sharing opinions and recommendations.
  • Supports the development of go-to-market (GTM) plans and key performance indicators (KPIs) for a subset of a category or a defined geographic area.

Field Integrated Marketing

Drives Microsoft's business objectives through integrated marketing campaigns aligned to globally defined priorities, strategies, and programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Implements and assists in the creation of integrated marketing plans aligned to targeted business outcomes for a limited range of business areas.
  • Analyzes marketing performance and marketing spend reports, to identify and share insights that may affect marketing and business-planning decision making through a regular rhythm of business (ROB) of reporting and business review meetings.
  • Delivers the marketing plan based on insights and local market knowledge. Leverages reports and analyses of customer metrics for their impact on the local market.

Field Product Marketing

For a given product or solution area, activates and drives area leadership and stakeholders to foster short- and long-range growth and claim market share. Delivers impact as a product spokesperson/evangelist, leveraging product knowledge and technical expertise to position the value proposition and tailor messaging to a variety of key internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a primary product spokesperson and evangelist for a Product Manager-owned portfolio.
  • Owns accountability for defined scorecard metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for a product/service. Plans and executes business strategy in the highest priority areas and/or where the most impact can be had for the line of business.
  • Contributes to the creation of strategic go-to-market (GTM) plans, for initiatives, across sales, marketing, consulting, customer success, and partner functions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates interest by the continually evolving craft of marketing.
  • The ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and presentation skills.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is from $73,800 to $162,200
(60-62).

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
